There's a vigilante streak online, I think. The failure of the justice system has led to these mobs forming to get some kind of closure, but I get uncomfortable when I see it because of how often one person becomes the totem for collective injustice.

Work put me up into this really nice place while I'm in MTL this week but this entire building of 2 bedroom apartments, at least 20 units, are 300 CAD a night short term rentals. We have to put landlords into the brazen bull, man.

It was really really bad in the early 2000s but there was a culture shift around 2010~ish when the community started purging the worst posters and the site got a lot better. So many active goons being transgender furries turned out to be the funniest joke SA's ever made.

In retrospect it was probably one of the worst places to grow up online, you could pick out some real nasty moments in the history of that place that'd make some of the modern internet's low points look like a Victorian tea party.

This is killing me dude, the vernacular has shifted too far.

Jenna wrote some of my favourite YS moments and has been a pristine wellspring of feedback for narrative animation. A lot of what you see the characters doing in YS came from them! Hire Jenna!!

While we're all appreciating Roosevelt, here is a small comic.

A comic depicting a little red haired girl in a library holding a book and approaching a large object like a flower patterned vase the shape of a sleeping animal body with a lid where the head and neck would be. She opens the lid and casually pulls out a large sleepy purple snake. The snake says to her "Can I help you?" the girl says "the lady said you'd read to me" the snake says "of course! Did you pick a book out?" and the girl happily says "Yeah!"

Action constraint, actually. The control dials work like a playhead that scrubs through an animation linked to that dial (or transform channel in the case of the finger gizmo). I find it works better than shape keys since I'm usually tweaking my model's geometry one way or another.

There's very light use of drivers to run shoulder shape keys but you could do 90% of what's here with good use of Action constraints.

020

Miracle @miraclebutt.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

Made it myself, but it's not super difficult if you know how to set up Action Constraints (there's a couple useful addons for that).

I've been sitting on about a dozen WIPs for a while now so figured I might as well get around to finishing one. Nearly done updating Finn's expression and finger controls, he should be ready for the public in a day or two.

KO_OP's employee owned, so this was a decision we voted for as a group to improve the studio's chance of survival. If our next pitch gets picked up then we'll be hiring back all the affected members if they're still interested.

Miracle @miraclebutt.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

I'll be doing it until the day I can't move a mouse or hold a pen or scratch charcoal into a cave wall with my bare fingers.

Miracle @miraclebutt.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

We're a co-operative, so the membership are all co-owners, myself included. We all discussed what steps to take and voted on this one for the studio's survival. It's not quite layoffs though; if our pitches are picked up, people will be rehired.

Miracle @miraclebutt.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Noe is genuinely the coolest person I've ever met, oh my god. Deeply curious, unbelievably talented, built our Yarn integration basically from the ground up. I feel like I could ask her literally anything and she'll have an answer within 20 minutes.

I have nearly every piece of art Ellen made for Young Suns saved to my PC and I look at it constantly for inspiration. There is so much heart in everything they make and their experience has been a bedrock I've leaned on heavily while working at KO_OP.

Daniel's a powerhouse. Any time something needed doing he'd point directly at the person most capable and send them off to do it. I wouldn't have gotten half the stuff done on YS without him keeping me focused.

Please play Young Suns when it hits steam! If anyone has a concept/2d artist gig after Dec, please let me know!

I don't have the space to say all I want to, so: what I had at KO_OP, all of us should have. Unionize, advocate, and fight to democratize your workplace. We deserve a world where KO_OP is the standard, not the exception.

I've been affected by this. I'll be remaining at KO_OP until the end of the year, at which point I'll be looking for full time animation work, either remote or onsite in Vancouver. I will likely open commissions around this time too, so keep an eye out.
