She had a blackbird hopping around directly next to her and didn’t go for it. Watched her roll around on the grass for a while longer then get up and meander away. She is #NotOurCat so not a lot we can do about it other than keep an eye on her when she visits for her daily belly rubs

Louise Upston wants 10,000 unemployed New Zealanders to piss in a cup. It'll cost $1.5 million. Naturally, I turned to Freud and Lacan to understand why National is so damn interested, again, in other people's urine. Thread time!🧵 #nzpol

A word at the end of the day about people saying "I'm okay with drug testing if all MPs have to do it". No. That is *not* where we want to go. Part of the danger of National's stunt policy is that it sets us off down a slippery slope where the privacy and human rights of *everyone* are infringed.

Nearly 15% of working population on jobseekers, 80,000 above National's target as Coalition's job cuts, record biz failures & cost of living results in 220,000 Kiwis on jobseekers while ~160,000 so far leave permanently. Their answer: cut benefits, cut youth off benefits & drive more into poverty

One of the interesting things is how much 'employment' under the below policy approach is indicative of individual worth & value (in fact, morality). Thus 'unemployment' is constructed as a problem of individual/personal failure, and so the policy 'solutions' are then designed to counter this.

They legislated to make it easier to fire workers, and now they're promising to punish people for being fired.
lowering the rate of payment for those who had been on the benefit for two of the previous three years, from 1 April 2028. There would be a smaller reduction for households with dependent children.

If it's ok for National MPs to get pissed on the job and abuse staff members, a wee toke is the least they should allow for people who can't get a job in the market they've crushed.

Just a reminder, if you're seeing crochet on clothes at fast-fashion stores and you're not paying a lot for it, the person who did that crochet is not getting paid a lot either. There is no machine-made crochet, unlike knits. A human is doing that with their hands.

A while ago Scott picked up 2x free cuttings of a Christmas Cactus from one of his mum’s neighbours. They both had a wee stick poked into the soil, 1x white & 1x pink. I wasn’t expecting such a pale pink on this first of the 2 to flower. Must pot them up properly 🌱

The fake site is very convincing. If you buy something from what appears to be a genuine merchant site and the order confirmation comes from vvservicecare[dot]com, call your bank immediately. Another red flag is the site trying to nudge you into a different payment method than the one you've chosen.

If I have a new contract to issue and have to get them set up in our finance system I have to ask them to provide extra documentation to verify their GST number. If it was included on their NZBN record this wouldn’t be needed. Plus ppl get pissy when we have to go back for extra documentation

A large part of what they propose would be solved if the NZBN folks made it opt out to display a company’s GST number instead of opt in
