right now the us has effectively one "tactical" nuclear weapon, the B-61 tactical nuclear weapons are a bad idea that becomes intolerable when we have a moron president

I always assumed that Trump doing stuff like this was part of his appeal? if you put me (or 80% of americans) behind the wheel of a big truck, im 100% going to play with the steering wheel and honk the horn like an overgrown child

so we're willing to give nuclear weapons to the UK, but not willing to include them in the discussions over the future of NATO, our nuclear weapons sharing alliance. who is running this shit show? the answer is literally grok

The Werner Herzog death penalty movie is grim as hell (obviously) but you get to watch an extremely unsympathetic man who is guilty as hell proclaim his innocence for a horrific murder and you still come out on the end of it thinking “this is a bad deal for everyone involved”

1. selling AI is profitable - when someone pays anthropic for claude to do something, anthropic makes money 2. people will stop paying anthropic for claude to do stuff if claude stops being top of the line 3. keeping claude top of the line means spending a ton of money developing the next version

4. the amount of money being made from selling AI may not be enough to cover the amount of money it takes to keep developing the next version of AI if the cost/pace of development doesn't slow down 5. the cost of development shows no sign of slowing down

i went to house warming party for someone who bought a new house because they wanted a "larger yard that wasn't so cramped" about an hour into the party - feeling cramped, i realized we were all standing in one corner of the yard, while his very happy sheep dog sat there proud of all his hard work

it truly is just perfect that a republican — you know, the party that so badly wants to protect women athletes — used a senate hearing to confidently, and falsely, accuse a lawyer of perjury because he and his entire staff forgot that women’s sports exists

You literally have to use the app. And if the app sucks, you switch pharmacies. Also it annoys the shit out of me that there’s no way to skip the voice menus and enter that info into a website and get a call with an agent who has read your ticket.

We need to be realistic. Banning free military aid is the most we can do, and it’s a step in the right direction. You can also play export fuckery games (conditional offensive weapon ban, only offer missile defense until we get our supplies back (~2030 and a number that easy to fudge).

Professor Harold Hill awakens to find he’s a captive in a small Midwestern town. The tight-lipped, insular residents call it River City. Who are the prisoners? Who are the wardens? Patrick McGoohan is THE MUSIC MAN. With: Leo McKern as the Mayor and Buddy Hackett as Rover
We see Prof. Harold Hill from the back as he enters the town of River City in the 1962 movie The Music Man.

Full Retatrutide phase 3 obesity data published today. It's gonna take a minute to fill dissect this. The appendix alone has 70 pages of data. Long story short we created a drug that's almost too good. Huge chunks of people stopped or reduced doses from excess weight reductions.

An infuriating feature, because it limits the theory-of-mind of the AI - a key feature of intelligence. I am the developer who cares about the implementation - and I am the medium between the source and the actual _users_. The user cares only about the interface!

Trump is selling nuclear tech to Saudi Arabia despite reported US intelligence that the Saudis still want a bomb—while the Trumps have taken billions in bribes from the Saudis. This is Trump corruption at the expense of US national security. Stop the deal.

Agree with Greg‘s general point. But let me ask the hard question about moral hazard: if the likes of Zuck or Jensen (or Dartmouth or Paul Weiss) pay no price for having kowtowed to Trump, won’t they end up looking smart for having done so? And if we want to curb this moral hazard, what must we do?
