5 months ago she hosted a small gathering for a PAC my wife and I support that helps people (mostly women) who have young families and want to run for office. It took place in her living room in NYC, and she was delightful. It's a memory I'll keep forever. Now the torch has been passed to us.

Dolly Parton was they type of Christian that Christian Nationalists only *pretend* to be. Unlike Christian Nationalists, she didn't browbeat us with how CHRISTIAN she was. She just lived her life doing things that Jesus asked her to do, like heal the sick, help the children, and care for the poor.

I guess I'll add that Dolly Parton is up there with Fred Rogers in terms of truly achieving what I think a Christian living their faith in public life should be like.

Coverage of the Canada trade war seems to be underselling an important point: Trump tore up NAFTA and made everyone sign a new agreement more to his liking in 2020 with a 16-year renewable term. Now he's tearing up that agreement. If his signature is meaningless why would Canada agree to anything?

I have one (a Fisker Karma). It's 14 years old and has a glass solar roof capable of about 250w output. The successor Karma Revero has one with 400w output. It's more for show than actual usable juice, but it will run the ventilation fan without using battery power.

It would probably look really cool if it was just filled with Hg (mercury). You'd only need it to be about an inch deep, and they could collect it from the chimney scrubbers on coal fired power plants. Except that I guess the EPA says they can turn off the scrubbers now if they want to. Never mind.

Don't regular police officers have to do a whole report and often go off patrol during the investigation if they unholster their weapon? Even if they are fully justified in doing so? It's a proper procedure for safety.

I will replay an earlier comment of mine- plans for these places must require local approval, right? The public should look at them. 150,000 sq ft and 2 bathrooms? There’s your answer. Not pretending that I know that, but it would be a tell if true.

Since they seem to be building these things faster than a camper can put up a tent, I’m wondering where and when the public plan review happens. If the public can see the plans, I’ll bet they’ll find that the whole place only has 1 or 2 bathrooms.

If you’re watching Fauci’s testimony remember that science isn’t an ideology. It doesn’t lie. It evolves. COVID-19 was a once-in-a-century pandemic caused by a brand-new virus, recommendations changed because the evidence changed. That’s not deception. That’s how it works.

In 75% of US industries, fewer corporations control more of the business than 20 years ago. That's especially true in the food industry. Just four corporations control 54% of the fresh-cut salad industry, including Taylor Fresh Foods. We're seeing in real time the danger of monopolization.
