a successful program of pizza launches this weekend

There have been two occasions in my career where I had to go to war with teammates against mistaken understandings of probability. In both cases, it was because people expected large numbers of d6s to occasionally result in maximum damage. But the curves for 3d6 and 15d6 (e.g.) look like this:

I'm able to do things to a high standard in less time, but yet still I spend a lot of my time dealing with the ramifications of people using these tools poorly. I similarly worry about the people in our org who just defer their thinking to the machine. Software as a field is just in disarray rn.

as soon as @albys.space finished this i knew i had to get it turned into a real life sticker and who better to ask than @lillemurstickers.bsky.social! the holographic stars just top this off, i can't wait to slap them all over town

I've just resigned myself to taking better pictures this time instead. My simple "I want to take a camera" has snowballed into a kit bag armed with three lenses... What's on your itinerary? We're just going to wander Tokyo and do a few days trips rather than all the rushing around of our first time.
