Ok now Robbie Mustoe has been to Saltburn today. Absolute spotter’s paradise on Teesside this weekend for any Boro fans. I am going to like all the content SO HARD tomorrow.

Just watched a video of Mido on Saltburn beach. There’s something magical about this Legend’s Game - I’d have loved to have gone but I’m in Italy. I don’t think there’ll be as big a gathering of ex Boro players ever again.

A really good read. Kieran seems to get a lot of stick online at times but I can only assume that’s because not every signing is a winner. This interview shows our club is managed in the right way for a club our size and how to attract good players. It’s exactly what we should be doing #utb

I loved that goal but prefer the Rochemback one. I think the fact that the commentator really glosses over the Downing volley is MAD. I was right behind that goal that day and it was amazing technique.

This two tier policing is disgraceful. It's as if there is one approach for people who helpfully film themselves committing crimes and another approach when there is insufficient evidence.

Privatise the rail industry and the only winners will be the consumer… Booked seats which have been double booked on one train out of Euston to Manchester - no aircon in this part of the train - had to ask staff to get my pregnant wife a seat. What a lot of wins.

I’ve been in London this weekend and seen plenty of tourists specifically here for this game. It’s a baffling concept to me but when you account for the fact there’s no tiers beyond the NFL then it makes more sense. There SHOULD be tiers beyond the NFL.

I think if Jones or Malanda plays instead of Ayling, we look a bit more solid already. Personally Malanda and Jones for me but Phillips looks promising.

010

Michael Shackleton @michaelshackleton.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

I think there’s something off because we look susceptible to long balls and counter attacks. Like we’re surprised to find ourselves without the ball. Mixed partnerships at centre half hasn’t helped. I think we’re only really playing with Morris as an anchor and it’s made us look a bit open.

120

Michael Shackleton @michaelshackleton.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

Joint top AND room to improve? Exciting times.

000

Michael Shackleton @michaelshackleton.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

I think the constant switching of centre backs hasn’t helped (admittedly this was because of injury). Thought Borges and Berhalter coming off was a mistake (wrong), thought McGree staying on was a mistake (also wrong). The switch to two forwards and Sarmiento’s craft was a superb shout.

100

Michael Shackleton @michaelshackleton.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

It’s the lack of control without the ball that is a bit of a worry, but there were defensive clangers across the board. After half time, everyone in midfield and attack stepped up the speed and it paid off.

110

Michael Shackleton @michaelshackleton.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

Night and day in terms of attacking threat in the first and second half. Same amount of possession but so much more intent. Still feels like we need to tighten up, but the value of having a strong bench really came to the fore there.

110

Michael Shackleton @michaelshackleton.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

Huuuuuuuge save from Vitek there. Should have scored to be honest. Need to keep switched on.

010

Michael Shackleton @michaelshackleton.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

From a cross as well. McGree has been superb since half time, Joseph has made a real difference, it’s just being moved quicker!!! Let’s goooooo!

010

Michael Shackleton @michaelshackleton.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

Here we go. Much brighter. All the subs have made a difference already.

000

Michael Shackleton @michaelshackleton.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

Millwall playing very narrow defensively because they know we will have to cross and they’ll pick it off. Also no room to shoot from distance. I’d be tempted to stick Strelec on for McGree maybe.

020

Michael Shackleton @michaelshackleton.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

I think Malanda and Jones are our first choice centre halves so I’m not surprised we look a bit shaky at the back but we look lost back there. Unfortunately for us, Alex Neil knows how to coach defensively. No room to shoot from distance, feeding us wide to ping crosses into their big lads.

000

Michael Shackleton @michaelshackleton.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

The final ball not been good enough, Millwall clinical and happy to defend all night. A textbook Boro performance against an injury riddled makeshift team. Next goal crucial.

000

Michael Shackleton @michaelshackleton.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

That was a good example of how not to defend against bigger boys. There are times we could have moved it quicker, we absolutely should have scored one, but this shifting of centre back partners is really unsettling us. Millwall happy to let us cross it because of their enormous centre backs.

120

Michael Shackleton @michaelshackleton.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

I think that took a nick off Ayling - really made it difficult for Vitek. The question there was how easy it was to get in with a bang average lofted pass over the top. Other than that we have started very brightly. Classic stuff.
