I've been amusing myself by asking the government's new chatbot bad-faith legal questions, which led to this.
Question: Is it illegal for the president to violently and intentionally throw ketchup at the wall in the White House?

Answer: I cannot say that act is "illegal for the president" as a completed case. Statues and immunity rules both matter. This is not legal advice.

Property statutes
18 U.S.C. S 1361 makes it a crime for whoever willfully injures U.S. property. The White House is federal property. Penalty depends on the dollar amount of damage. The text does not exempt the president by name.
18 U.S.C. S 1752 covers restricted White House areas and includes physical violence against property.
Whether ketchup on a wall meets "willful injury" or "physical violence against property" would be a fact-specific charging decision.Answer: Whether ketchup on a wall meets "willful injury" or "physical violence against property" would be a fact-specific charging decision.

Presidential immunity
In Trump v. United States (2024), the Supreme Court held:
Absolute immunity for core constitutional official acts
At least presumptive immunity for other official acts
No immunity for unofficial acts
Throwing ketchup at a wall is not described in that opinion as a core Article II power. Whether it would be treated as unofficial personal conduct is for courts, not for me.

Wtaf is this question my university just asked me about my project?
Does the project involve any work that could be interpreted as promoting DEIA, climate change research, or non-compliant to any Presidential Executive Orders?

one common thread (among the horrifying many) between the numerous ICE shootings/murders is that no first aid was administered to the victim. armed combatants of the government shot to kill, and if they didn’t kill right away, they gave time for it to happen anyway. it is absolutely grotesque.

PSA: No Kings is a coalition, not an org, and it does not do fundraising appeals for itself. Partner orgs raise money for costs we're incurring to put it on. But if you get a text from "NO KINGS" or a PAC you've never heard of before asking for $ that is a scam and you should block/shame away.

Doing my bit to save the Academy of Natural Sciences -- I went on Friday, joined the Academy to help bump their numbers, and am contacting my elected officials and other stakeholders. Without a concerted public effort, the country's oldest natural history museum will close at the end of the month.
Picture shows a Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton in Dinosaur Hall at the Academy of Natural Sciences. I understand that this is a cast but the Academy has the real deal i. Its collection of 19 million items.

If you see a website that utilizes maps and it has Lake "America" on it - DON'T automatically assume that company agrees with the naming. Even on my websites I use what are called 'APIs' (Application Programming Interfaces) which pull data live from google. The website/company doesn't control that.

People are always surprised to learn that packaging, processing, and transportation are almost always small contributors (<10%) of food-related GHG emissions. The TYPE of food we eat -- meat versus plants -- is a MUCH bigger factor.
Bar chart of greenhouse gas emissions associated with the lifecycle production of different foods. Beef and lamb are the highest emitting. Farm-level emissions and land use change emissions are the greatest contributors to lifecycle food emissions.
