We obtained the Flynn settlement through a FOIA lawsuit filed in federal court earlier this year. We’re seeking records related to settlement agreements executed by Trump’s DOJ. Many thanks to our lawyers at the Civil Service Law Center LLP for their assistance! bsky.app/profile/anna...

NEW: We obtained the government’s settlement agreement with Michael Flynn. As previously reported, DOJ agreed to pay $1.25 million to settle Flynn’s claims that he was wrongfully prosecuted. But docs suggest a separate settlement could be in the works: www.lawfaremedia.org/article/u.s....

There's an emerging ideological divide over whether unexplained #SCOTUS rulings must be given precedential effect. Today's "One First" argues that there's nothing "conservative" about saying "yes"; it's just cover for bad behavior that has nothing to do with ideology—and everything to do with power:

220. Ideology and Shadow Docket Precedent
The en banc Fourth Circuit's divide in the DOGE/Social Security case is the latest example of how assessments of the Supreme Court's behavior on emergency applications are sorting us ideologically.

@katmabu.bsky.social narrowly lost the IL-09 primary last night. But here's a number worth sitting with. Her campaign brought in more first-time Gen Z donors than Jeffries, Schumer, the DSCC, and the DCCC, and her primary opponents combined. This is why campaigns like hers matter.
Horizontal bar chart showing new first-time Gen Z donors (under 30) by campaign, through 2025. Abughazaleh leads with 3,164, followed by the DSCC (1,880), DCCC (734), Jeffries (273), Biss (17), Fine (7), and Schumer (3). Abughazaleh's bar is highlighted in blue; all others are gray.

The White House claims the vote to rename the Kennedy Center was “unanimous.” That is false. I was muted on the call and denied the opportunity to speak or register my opposition. That is not consensus. That is censorship.

Making exactly this point was Chase Strangio's @chasestrangio.bsky.social strongest moment at the podium yesterday -- and it was the last thing he said before he sat down.

On the harm that the Tennessee ban has already wrought. My pal @kristenchapman.bsky.social is quoted: “I personally feel like if your child comes to you and says, ‘This is who I am, this is what I need,’ your job as a parent is to support them in that.” gift link:

I wrote this ode to a burger joint near my hometown in rural Oklahoma before the election, but the piece is about nostalgia's role in the state's conservative impulses, and maybe more resonant today www.eater.com/24235044/mee...

If Nancy Mace wants to keep sex criminals out of bathrooms in federal buildings she should introduce a bill to mandate Donald Trump use a port-o-potty in the Rose Garden.

RFK announcement puts a fine point on something I've been trying to articulate and is a theme of the Trump years. It's something I've wrestled with and that a lot of Dem messaging has gotten wrong. Part of what Trump does is constantly divide the country along the lines of pro-system and anti-system

To state the very obvious, this would put an avowed anti-vaxxer in charge of vaccines, allowing him to thwart the development and approval of life-saving shots. It's almost too horrific to fathom—a potential death sentence for our families and children. It's lethal. www.politico.com/news/2024/11...

When Carol Moseley Braun, the first Black woman elected to the Senate in '92, went to pick up her congressional ID, she was issued one labeled "spouse." She responded: "try again." Nice to see that absolutely nothing has changed
