If you’re an artist who tries to avoid/deter conflict by “not taking a side,” that doesn’t work forever. At some point, not choosing or avoiding being on the record is indistinguishable from taking a side or capitulation. It sucks, but “I don’t take sides” doesn’t always accomplish what you hope.
