In the Rauris valley in Salzburg, there's a specific variety of Percht (ancestor of the Krampus, named after a pagan deity) called Schnabelperchten (beak perchten). They come out on the eve of 5th-6th january, the end of the "Rough nights," and make loud squawking sounds as they go door to door
