not being cynical about this per se, but sometimes i do wonder how much of this visual/thematic language and inference is the result of so many SFF works in japan being heavily influenced by Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli rather than conscious intent

as with any controls which depend on end-users, safety tools and sessions zero do not eliminate the possibility of serious safety failures at table. risks must be controlled much earlier in the process than the screaming brakes of the X-Card, whether in game design or session planning.
