If the Democrats win, they have to be ready to bring generational change. Reform the courts, eliminate the filibuster, expand the house, admit DC and Puerto Rico as states, pass a new voting rights act, and prosecute every single corrupt member of the Trump admin.

The peace Conan describes here is what I find so psychotic about Capitalism: The unnatural systemic need for more, growth, bigger, up, is constantly making people feel - mentally and financially - like where they’re at is not what success looks like, even if it’s exactly what makes them happy.

The youngest person his pager attack killed was 9-year-old Fatima Abdullah, who had just started 4th grade. The pager was on a table when it went off and she picked it up to take to her dad. It exploded in her face and reports said it covered the room in her blood. She wanted to learn English.

A screenshot of my letter to Talarico's TX office, subj: "Can we PLEASE NOT" and content:

"I am absolutely the heck desperate for Texas to have a Democratic senator. Like, it's the thing I've been working toward personally and professionally for years. And now you go on Fox News to drag trans people???? WYD???? I just genuinely want to know if you hate trans people or not. Like, I've written a thousand versions of this email with a bunch of talking points about how dippy it is to throw trans people under the bus, the hell are you doing, etc. But for real. What is your deal? Do you legit think trans people are a threat? You legit think gender confirmation surgeries are happening willy-nilly on 8-year-olds? Are you that ding-dang dippy, man? Do you legit believe that the thing standing between you and this Senate win is screwing over trans people? That people who wouldn't otherwise vote for a Dem are now all in on the Talarico campaign because you were like sure, trans people are a threat? Do you genuinely believe that? I am dying for an answer. Call me any time.

🔥 Here's Whitehouse's entire remarkable speech opposing Blanche: "What's left of this committee when we don't demand straight answers? How many times has DOJ been asked what became of the $50k that the FBI reported it handed to Homan? ... our R colleagues see no evil, hear no evil, & speak no evil."

A story I love about Anthony Stewart Head. Thank you to this person for sharing it on Tumblr. What a mensch.
A photo of Tony Head with a fan, standing in a barn near a horse. Tumblr post from dracofidus: If you EVER think Anthony Head is anything less than an angel then you'd best remember that I have always been a huge fan of his and we've always had a little contact over the years and he heard I'd come out as Trans and was having a hard time and that I was kind of sad that the photos I had from conventions with him were of me with long hair and no binder and they were all signed to "Sarah" and so he invited me to spend the day with him at his farm and he picked me up from the station and we just hung out and had lunch and he insisted on paying and look loads of photos and had them printed on photo paper the same day so he could sign them to Jay, along with other photos of him as Giles and Utger and he literally spent five hours chatting with me and got all the pronoun stuff right every time and then he dropped me off at the station, gave me a massive hug. Waved me through the ticket barrier and insisted I message him when I got home so he knew I was back safe.

As part of my reporting on children held in immigrant detention in Dilley, Texas, I’ve gotten to review some medical records from the facility. This is where ICE brought 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos. One detail that has gnawed at me: The medical forms refer to the children as inmates.
Image shows screenshot of medical records listing a child as “Inmate.” The child’s name and “Inmate ID” is redacted

Unmarked car, no lights or police insignia. Masked armed men leap out. Victim not in the act of committing any crime. This is not how a serious federal law enforcement agency acts in a free society. How is this not supposed to be a “right wing paramilitary force loyal to the regime”?

Speaking ill of the dead is controversial, particularly when it was a violent death. It’s edgy; it’s sensitive; best avoided in most cases, etc. Baselessly making another person’s murder *about yourself,* and then approving of it, is a different thing. That is delusional, narcissistic, sociopathic.
