'Within the survey’s findings on nature, a third of people said they felt a spiritual connection with the natural world. An overwhelming majority of respondents agreed that ‘if nature suffered then we (as human beings) will suffer’ (85%) and that ‘trees are precious and should be respected’ (88%).'

Greenhouse gas emissions, primarily from burning fossil fuels, have already made every summer and every heatwave hotter than they would have been in a world without those emissions. Imagine if the @metoffice.gov.uk were brave enough to say something like that to the media every heatwave?

When looking at the full global picture it becomes obvious that we are now living in a much changed climate. In summer 1976, north-west Europe was a lonely hot spot in a sea of cooler temperatures. In summer 2025, the world is bright red. The climate is unrecognisable compared to 50 years ago.

Today, UK MPs are voting on substantial reform to abortion law. Abortion is currently permitted under certain circumstances. Outside of these circumstances, abortion care is regulated by a Victorian law. The reform would protect people from arrest and imprisonment for ending their own pregnancy.
