Anyone got any nutritious, easy recipe suggestions for a cuisinally inexperienced 18-year-old who's been at university for a couple of weeks but appears to have been too embarrassed to cook in front of her flatmates?

Yes, it's 30% off all 33 1/3 titles in the #BackToSchool sale until 4 Oct. An unmissable opportunity to build up a collection of Faiths to rival mine. @3313books.bsky.social www.bloomsbury.com/uk/series/33...

Think I'll watch this tonight, misty-eyed, reflecting on the fairytale magic of their 'meteoric' rise.
A Sky Sports documentary called Drink It In: The Rise of Man City (2022). The blurb goes: Manchester City's rise has been nothing short of meteoric; from an 8-1 humbling in 2008, to five-time Premier League winners. Follow the record breaking journey of the noisy neighbours.

Caught some of the VMAs tribute and have to say Sombr, Adam Lambert and Teddy Swims did a sterling job reminding us what a great singer George Michael was.

Arguably the greatest UK top 70 single based on a gospel-infused jazz funk record by avant garde saxophonist Archie Shepp which was inspired by a prison riot in upstate New York which resulted in 43 deaths including 10 correctional officers, 9 of whom were killed by their own colleagues

Very gingerly dipping a toe into the stagnant pond of The Discourse I think it’s obviously fine to not hear popular songs but my reaction to learning “a song I don’t know has broken loads of popularity records“ is “oh I should hear it, maybe I’ll like it”, why would it not be that?

Accidentally happened across a Friends episodes starring both Tom Selleck and Elliott Gould, and that's way more ham than anyone can be expected to eat.

I find it strange that some people refuse to believe this is the way our decentralised culture works now, that it's possible to be completely ignorant of hugely popular things that don't match your tastes and interests. People aren't lying about that because they think it makes them look cool.

If you're googling something you've heard of it, or you wouldn't be googling it because you wouldn't be aware of the juxtaposition of words to type. So, at the point of declaration, you can't be blamed for not having heard of it as you haven't had a chance to google it yet (Aristotle, 331 BC).

Seeing a lot of "I actually like this one". Sting has made loads of great records. His being a nob doesn't change that. Maybe enhances it. #notTOTP

I already drink beer on the terraces. Seventh tier football FTW. As a season ticket holder I also have it in a branded hard plastic glass from the special bar that charges a quid for the pleasure, which you can claim back if you return it, but they pull the shutters down on 85 mins.

Think I've found the perfect way to annoy all of Bluesky at once. Just had a PR email about One Hit Wonder Day, in which a DJ has picked his top 5 one hit wonders and included Soft Cell's Tainted Love.

Tonight's theme: records you'd forgotten you'd bought.
A record deck playing the compilation LP Upfront 1. The sleeve is propped up on the mixer. There's some Mickey Mouse art on the wall. And a fish. There's a twilight hue. A shadow.

Lot of context-free reposts of that screenshot saying Lisa Nandy had 'heard' and 'was listening' to Piddington. That was a courtesy. She went on to say all communities, rich and poor, had to accept these facilities being placed locally while claims were processed, and this vote wouldn't change it.

Very nice to hear a sane voice from Piddington. Serious respect to this woman, who is apparently already being othered by more bigoted villagers.

Charlotte Adigéry and Bolis Pupul are back with Googoo Gaga, which is, of course, a 'sharp, tender portrait of motherhood, care and the invisible labour of raising a child told through the Flemish folktale, De Mammelokker'. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MqJ...

BBC Breakfast managing to treat the Piddington bigot vote as both a quaint 'and finally...' story and a significant 'message to Andy Burnham'. That berk John Kay tumescent.

Shelton hits the ball hard, but into innocuous spaces. Mind boggles that he beat Alcaraz. Albeit a one-armed Alcaraz who'd been on a sun lounger for eight months. #USOpen
