One issue with Coyote vs Acme is that I’m pretty sure there were enough potential cases to have a class action lawsuit certified under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 23 but the lawyer refers to the tape as having evidence for “about five year’s worth of cases”. Other than that, good film

It was such a joy having @meabhdebrun.bsky.social in the studio with us! We can’t wait for you to hear who she’s playing as well. It’s also worth saying for the record that we would never, EVER swat our actors with a pop filter. We use cattle prods like professionals.

we like to push our actors to try new things here at monstrous productions, like playing characters who are "having a good time" and "barely encounter any bodily fluids at all". it's a novel direction to take in indie audio fiction but im optimistic about the results!

Had an absolute blast in Belfast last weekend doing some in studio recording for the brand new season of @last-dance-media.bsky.social! It's always a gift to perform and collaborate with others, doing it in person is electric. Thank you for having me lads xxx
A photograph of Méabh de Brún standing in a recording studio. There is writing on the photo over her head that says "Acting, acting, acting, I am doing acting, this is how you acting." There is writing over electrical wires attached to the wall that says "they plug me in here to make me go". There is writing beside a large pop-filter that says "they swat me with this to make me stop."

Everest
Black and white comic featuring three lads. Panel 1: three lads are walking, the one with the hat says “it’s just a shame we all have to climb Everest before we’re 25”. Panel 2: the lads are being arrested by British police officers, the one with the mullet says: “or we get arrested.” The one with curly hair says “yeah.” Panel 3: the lads are looking sad, they’re walking up a hillside in thick coats with their arms behind their back, a police officer waves a truncheon behind them, the lad with the hat says: “and then they make you climb it in handcuffs.”

I need to find a way to summarise the fact that I will never care about AI slop even if it’s “good” because the core thing I enjoy and the thing that most interests me about any piece of art is that it was made by a human being who put effort and intention into communicating something to me.

Here's the serious bit for anyone who'd rather skip the 4000 words of jokes
Because the truth is, tech doesn't have an image problem. It doesn't have a message problem. It has an intention problem. What's wrong with the axe murderer who broke into my house is not that he hasn't successfully persuaded me to buy into his narrative. What's wrong is that he's trying to kill me with an axe. Similarly, when you launch a product that's designed to put millions of people out of work, block access to sources of verifiable truth, replace human creativity with slop, and lower the barriers to every sort of atrocity, the problem isn't that you haven't told the public a good story about those things. The problem is that you are trying to do them. (
There are things in the world that are more important than money. The fact that you seem not to believe this, that you seem to think any motive beyond ruthless acquisitiveness is fake, dishonest, or childish, is the heart of your problem. Your attitude is not by any means unique to tech, but the

This Gist tries to find where the political decision comes from to just stop building houses. It seems it was a preference for supporting private landlords’ rental income to spending that same money on increasing state housing stock. www.thegist.ie/the-gist-whe...
Why no building?
The two main government parties, but in particular Fine Gael as the largest party since 2011, looked to play pass the parcel with the future on housing. Instead of Local Authorities, they would pay private landlords (via HAP or long term leases) to house people. As the Taoiseach told the Dáil in 201Z;
"Just because social housing or public housing is not built directly by a local authority does not mean that it should not count."
The problem was that, generally, private landlords don't build their houses afresh.
So, as private housing stock became occupied by people who would have once been housed in newly built Local Authority houses, it stopped being available for other private tenants, or for people trying to buy a home. By turning off the tap of Local Authority construction, the State was starting the clock running on a timebomb,

This article in The Journal remains the best piece telling this story by just setting out the numbers. www.thejournal.ie/snapshot-of-...
Bar chart showing the collapse of social housing construction 1995-2015.

In 1975, local authorities built 8,794 social housing units, the highest on record. This gradually fell back, with voluntary and cooperative organisations stepping in to make up the shortfall. And, of course, there were the private developers.
In 2007, the last official year of the so-called Celtic Tiger, the local authorities built 4,986 homes. This number fell to 4,905 in 2008.
Then there was a devastating drop to 3,362 in 2011 and another decrease of 2,000 units to 1,328 in 2010

At some point the State decided it was going to stop building public housing. Nobody ever put that in a manifesto. The Ministers under whom the policy was implemented explicitly denied it was their policy. But it happened. And it has hobbled our society ever since.
