An NHS policy designed to clear "ghost patients" from GP lists is backfiring, disproportionately removing vulnerable and elderly people in deprived areas and blocking access to repeat prescriptions. Doctors are calling for an immediate pause. Read more: www.theguardian.com/society/2026...

Electricity is 23% of global final energy but delivers 37% of useful energy and powers 46% of the global economy. We don't need to replace every fossil joule. We need to replace the services. A much smaller task. Great to see the @iea.org’s new Electrification report finally measure this.

What on earth is happening?
This had become the new normal. RNLI crew members had been forced to take their permits off their cars after their tyres have been repeatedly slashed. Most of them have been pilloried at the school gates or turned away from local pubs. One man who worked in search and rescue had been beaten unconscious and hospitalised, recognised for TV interviews he had done.

Criticising staff for emergency improvisations distracts from the real issue: systemic under-resourcing. In high-pressure moments, nurses adapt to keep patients safe with the equipment available. Blame belongs on the shortages, not staff doing their best. Read: www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
