Sorrel and Heliotrope leap effortlessly across the rooftops, lit by moonlight and street lamps, Heliotrope following Sorrel's path over chimneys and fixtures. Heliotrope: "This is so fun! It's like having trampolines for feet!" Sorrel: "Aye, but keep your voice down. You've stuck enough rings on me I'm jingling like a reindeer as it is. And mind to land only where I'm landing. You don't wanna fall through someone's ceiling, 'specially when you've not been invited." H: "We have to be invited in? That's real?" S: "Truly. That's why it's a lot safer to cut around as a bat or owl or something. Now that you've got the hang of glamouring, you should learn proper shape-shifting next." H: "Please! Lake said you can turn into a bunch of stuff." S: "He's right, I'm brilliant." H, excited: "Oh! Oh! You should teach me how to turn into mist like you! That must be really handy!" Next panel focuses on the back of Sorrel's head, hair billowing as he jumps. "That's not something you want, pet. Let's worry about bats for now." Heliotrope stares at him a moment then looks away. "Okay." (Perking up) "Um, I've been wondering this for a while,but- what are your pronouns?" She points at him and he turns, startled. S: "My what?" H: "Like, he/they? She/her? Ze/zir, faeself, bun/bunself-" S: "I know what they are… he… he? He/he? I'm just a man, love. Nothing fancy." H: "That's what I thought but I didn't want to assume! You had skirts and dresses in your wardrobe."

Sorrel: "Well fashion's about the only thing worth sticking around for, and men's clothes get fucken old real quick. Still- can't fault you for asking. But for the record, it wasn't my choice to die looking like an emaciated fop." Heliotrope, deep in thought: "Is that a slur?" S: "I used to have to glamour as a woman all the time, actually- that's how I know it's not for me, hah." H, smiling: "You did? Cool! Why?" S, looking forward, expression pensive: "Because either I went out with my husband as some woman, or I went out as myself, with my good pal Roderick. Wears on you." H: "Wait - you were married? Aww!" S: "Well, not legally. Roderick passed away just before the 90s hit. Which is a real shame, 'cause he would've loved Imogen Heap." Heliotrope looks saddened. "Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot how old you really are…" (Panicking) "Um-! I didn't mean that in a bad way-" Sorrel, smiling: "Don't be daft! I am old! And proud of it. Sometimes, I'll even glamour m'self to look more like my real age." As he speaks he passes his hand over his face to reveal an older, wrinklier appearance with pure white hair. H (smirking): "Aren't you still like, fifty years off…?" Sorrel drops the glamour and his smile. "Wow. First of all, (hand on his chest) Gagged me. Second-" He grabs Heliotrope around the shoulders and steers her aside.

Heliotrope and Sorrel overlook a modest two-storey family home built into an incline. Sorrel: "That's the one, yeah?" Heliotrope grins and jumps down. "Yeah! Doesn't look like Mr. Biggle has thrown anything out yet… C'mon!" Sorrel smiles at her. "Keep your voice down, pet." They approach the darkened front door under a small porch. Sorrel starts to take off the bags he's wearing, saying "I'll mist under the door and open it from the inside." Heliotrope: "No need! Three, four, five from the left…" She holds a potted plant that seems to have died in the cold. In the draining dish underneath there is revealed a spare key. "Still there! My dad forgets his keys all the time." She goes to use the key in the front doorknob, but pauses. "Forgot," she corrects herself. The panel does not show her eyes but does show Sorrel glancing at her.
