Glad you came across it! After reading Joost's and Ryans latest updates on the project, I wanted to hear their, yours & @tk.gg's thoughts. I think it would make sense to bring @joost.blog @rmccue.io @marucchi.com into the conversation to discuss further. What do y'all think, potential for something?

“The subject is interesting. The interviewer is credentialed. They agree with each other at length. Nothing is at stake. No one is surprised. Awesome piece, thank you! When you think of someone who consistently adheres to these principles, are there any podcast interviewers who come to mind—someone you can expect a solid interview from in any domain, regardless of your own knowledge of the guest or subject matter?

@justinmezzell.bsky.social you tried building a new Digg without the compelling differentiator of being an open social app. Now try building on the AT network! You have to give up control over users' identity+data but you can build a great app and make money at scale: bsky.app/profile/jaco... GL!
Digg.com screenshot

"A Hard Reset, and What Comes Next
Building on the internet in 2026 is different. We learned that the hard way. Today we're sharing difficult news: we've made the decision to significantly downsize the Digg team. This wasn't a decision made lightly, and it's important to say clearly: this is one of the strongest groups of people we've ever had the privilege of working with. This is not a reflection of their talent, their effort, or their belief in what we were building. It's a reflection of the brutal reality of finding product-market fit in an environment that has fundamentally changed."

Someone should be trying to convince Kevin Rose and the people building the new version of Digg to build on AT protocol. Reddit needs to be replaced and nothing would improve the new Digg’s chances like being an open alternative. They’ll have serious funding so will have the best shot by default.

@matthewdgreen.bsky.social Curious if you have any thoughts. From my understanding, Meta AI is integrated on Instagram (not sure the extent). I wonder if the encryption/passkey foundation built with Confer would extend to Instagram logins at a base layer. Maybe a path to encrypted DMs down the line?

Just as we're learning about the end of DM encryption on Instagram, Moxie announced he's integrating Confer's privacy technology to underpin Meta AI. Full circle—the architect returns to implement encryption at scale on a new platform. Chapter two: exciting to witness, though it feels strange.

I started building Confer because I saw how amazing LLMs are, and as a result, how much of our data is flowing through them. Already, AI chat apps have become some of the largest centralized data lake...

@ma.tt don’t let Zuck and Substack take modern publishing, cook their asses bro. You've been on this tip for years. Now your foundation and ecosystem pays off, democratize 2.0. Tumblr, Woo, Pocketcasts, Beeper, Gravatar (DID passport). I repeat, cook them. Open atmosphere, lead the way. Do it again.

Imagine hosting/posting your own music and podcast episodes and appviews surface it by filtering for audio (like flashes). I’m assuming there could be a way for users to dictate, “music” or “episode” and then app views can separate the two in their own way (would this be a lexicon?).

This feels like a new frontier for hosting providers and cms companies. They can unleash their user-base that already pays for hosting/domains and get this shipoppin. Paid content, memberships, all the usual “website stuff”, hooked up to the atmosphere. No lack of ecosystem, no lack of social reach.

I’d love to pay for a simple way to manage my data and hosting from a single entity. Imagine the ability to upload my own photos, videos, music, podcast episodes, and know that it’s all being shared, stored, and backed up through a service I “own” (in the same sense of owning my own website).

@toni.bsky.team @jay.bsky.team @ma.tt @pfrazee.com I’d love to hear if you envision some sort of Wordpress integration. I dream of a world where we have an easy way to publish and manage our own content; sovereignly! Wowza, I feel like a Wordpress PDS or an atproto CMS is where things get bonkers!

(2/2) It would be nice to natively connect our domains to your services, especially if the social web keeps moving in the direction of atproto, Activitypub, or nostr. I’ve heard Andy describe email as our key to digital identity, why not secure one of the things most central to it?

Matt Ram @mattram.life · 05/02/2026
(1/2) Have you ever considered being a domain registrar? It would be cool to purchase and custody domains through your infrastructure, especially since we already trust you with other things so central to identity.

The right half of a remarkably-sculpted mesocyclone of a supercell thunderstorm, photographed at night and illuminated by lightning. The clouds have a clear bell shape to them, indicative of where horizontal air is pulled upward into the storm's updraft. Striations in the clouds hint at the rotation within. While this photo was taken, twin tornadoes were in progress beneath. Central Oklahoma, April 2023.

An aerial view of Shiprock - a volcanic neck quite literally sticking out of the barren landscape like a sore thumb at Sunrise. An exposed dike serves as a leading line, drawing your eyes from the bottom of the image toward Shiprock in the distance. Light from the just-rising sun is caught on the right side of Shiprock and the dike, while the left side of them remains dark. Clear skies are overhead.A look down a long Icelandic canyon, with two prominent waterfalls. The first waterfall is near the camera on the right of the image and cascades hundreds of feet down to the canyon floor. In the far distance, at the end of the canyon, is a second waterfall of similar height. This one has numerous smaller waterfalls above it, with a little mountainous peak above.A look along the columnar jointing on display at Studlagil canyon in Iceland. Large hexagonal pillars bracket both sides of a river fed by a glacier not far upstream. Partly cloud skies are overhead. A massive wedge tornado churns over fields in central Oklahoma. A very well-defined clear slot wraps around the circulation. There is a cow grazing in the foreground, seemingly unaware of the monster behind it. Ah, to be so blissfully unaware...

Our dynamic planet in monochrome, pt. 2. #photography
An aerial image above the summit of Guatemala's Fuego volcano during a particularly powerful eruption. A large eruption column extends above the summit, with gasses swirling around the vent. An incredible number of pyroclastic debris (rocks and chunks of lava) is blasted outward in all directions, peppering the entire frame of the image. The towering, rocky column of Shiprock sticks out of the ground at sunrise, with hazy pastel color skies and clouds above, and a very distant mountain in the background.A photograph looking straight down the center of a road - between brown to yellow fields - that points toward a massive glacier that reaches up into the patchy clouds. The wall of ice has a somewhat wavy appearance, with brown, rocky cliffs on either side.A large, distant tornado chewing up dirt and kicking up dust in far west Texas, with dark swirling clouds overhead and a row of powerlines leading toward the storm.
