I know we’ve all complained about the DVLA services not being available after 7pm scenario, but I found out today that Transport for Wales tap in/out problems can’t be resolved until *the day after* as tap in/out data is only available to TfW after 4.30am the following morning.

If anyone else is having a Sunday filled with slightly unwanted DIY and wants to feel better about themselves, the curtain rail that has just fallen on my head was originally held in place by a screw that had no fewer than three different rawl plugs added by someone to try and keep it there.

Anyone who has worked on integrating and optimising AI into a transactional service will tell you that AI used appropriately can be great… but it’s never 100% of the flow. From a product and service design focus /only/ talking about AI is not talking about the (much messier) end-to-end service.

It’s hard not to think of this entire poem every time I read the news
Of the Empire by Mary Oliver

We will be known as a culture that feared death
and adored power, that tried to vanquish insecurity
for the few and cared little for the penury of the
many. We will be known as a culture that taught
and rewarded the amassing of things, that spoke
little if at all about the quality of life for
people (other people), for dogs, for rivers. All
the world, in our eyes, they will say, was a
commodity. And they will say that this structure
was held together politically, which it was, and
they will say also that our politics was no more
than an apparatus to accommodate the feelings of
the heart, and that the heart, in those days,
was small, and hard, and full of meanness.

On the Red Bull/Racing Bulls driver news, Hadjar is best option in a long time. It’ll be a mentality test not a driving skill test for him. But Lindblad? Not ready. I think there should be a Japanese driver in the second seat, but it should be newly crowned Super Formula champ Iwasa, not Tsunoda.
