I asked the panel on environment during the agrifood days if we could reach our clima & envi goals without significant diet change and related demand side policies. Julia from @ieep.eu stated that based on their research this would be impossible with our target for 2050 in mind. #EUAgriFoodDays

In the EU we have 22,236 'farms' with permits for > 40k for 🐔, >2K for fattening 🐷 Imo, in these cases we are talking about factories and not about farms. Factories where billions of sentient animals are exploited to squeeze the biggest amount of profit out of them. Great work @AGtivist_agency!

If we want future generations to have biodiverse oceans full of life. We, EU citizens need to drastically reduce our fish intake. The best thing you could do for the ocean is to stop consuming fish and seafood altogether. EU officials and MS's should prioritize protecting our oceans better.

Thank you to @MEPSebastian Everding and @eurogroupforanimals.org for organizing a crucial event on the cruel and unnecessary practice of tethering dairy cows. Tethering is when cattle are fixed to a place in the barn with chains or fixed neck frames. A still to common practice in the 🇪🇺

The freeing up of land (size of N-America & Brazil) to become beautiful, biodiverse, wild nature that will also allow us to better protect ourselves against the impacts of the extreme weather events to come should be enough reason for all policymakers to make the protein shift an absolute priority 🤔
