Trump won’t care about governing, so there won’t be much they have to distance themselves from. My guess is that they triple down on culture war stuff because they don’t really have policy ideas and Trump will be totally unengaged (unless it’s about slapping his name on more things)

One thing Trump does well (in a strategic sense) is picking fights where there are only two possible outcomes, and both outcomes benefit him. Here he may have “lost” but dragging his enemies through the criminal law system is still a win for him.

Trump takes advantage of the fact that media only covers “new” developments. When Trump gets negative press he doesn’t apologize and stays the course. When Dems get negative press, they do apologize (which creates additional coverage) and they do change course (which also creates more coverage)
