arxiv.org/html/2603.21... New preprint appears to show that lots of key functions and constants can be reduced to some series of call to a single primitive function: eml(x, y) = exp(x) - ln(y) One it is cool and two possibly useful for symbolic regression and recovering equations from ML. 🧪🤖

The problem with offloading finding paper to ai is you will get biased results. 🧪🤖 I don't want to call out k-dense in particular but it's the clearest example of how using tools without reading their prompts Is a bad idea. github.com/K-Dense-AI/c...

Today* I am angry. Yet another person I know who exhibits toxic behaviour in the workplace has been ‘failed upwards’. This is a well known phenomenon whereby individuals are not sacked for poor behaviour, but rise through the ranks of higher education. Taking their (often appalling) behaviour with them to a new institution, usually with a hefty salary and title bump to go with it.

One of the most heart warming adaptations I've heard of. Heart cockles have evolved aragonite fibre optic bundles to transmit sunlight to their symbionts. These bundles appear optimally arranged for light transmission and reduce UV load which can damage symbionts. 🧪 www.nature.com/articles/s41...
