After more than 200 years, the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation is coming home! I am proud to have worked with Chairman Rupnick to secure $1M to build a Tribal Government headquarters here, on Illinois soil. Honored to have played a small role in this long-overdue homecoming.

Why would we let Anthropic decide this for us? If you ascribe to a moral philosophy or religion that disavows being mean to a toaster, that is fine. It is not however fine for a tech company to make, functionally, a moral law for a talking word toaster that is promised to rule us one day.

the reason “AI will create so much abundance we will have a utopian society” rhetoric falls so flat is that the people building it will never, ever share their bounty unless it is taken from them and we all know it

It's telling that men would rather try to invent tech to replace humans' role in caregiving than step up as equal partners in parenting. Telling, that is, in that it shows how financial capitalism and patriarchy work together to dissuade men from doing "unprofitable" labor, like the work of care.

a little louder for the cheap seats in the back
One of the biggest myths is that men rape by mistake. Like, "Oh, they need consent training." But research is very clear: Sexual violence is not a mistake. It is an intentionally made decision by people who know they don't have consent. They just don't prioritize consent over things like status, power, domination, and sexual gratification.
For my research, I got a certificate of confidentiality from the National Institutes of Health, so my notes couldn't be subpoenaed. One of the reasons I call them perpetrators in my work is because every single person I interviewed confessed in that context. The first question I would ask them was, "When you received that email from Title IX that you were under investigation, did you know what it was about?" Every perpetrator I interviewed said "yes." If sexual assault were a miscommunication, you would be wondering, What have I possibly done wrong? That is not the way that any of them reacted because they knew.

I don’t think it’s just the Brits but i live in England 2: Electric Atrocities so my yard stick may be skewed. Incidentally, would you like to go to the Washington State Fair with me?
History

The fair started out under the name "Puyallup Valley Fair", with the first event taking place October 4-6, 1900. In 1913, it was renamed "The Western Washington Fair", but remained primarily known as the "Puyallup Fair" until the early 1980s. 151 In 2006, the name was changed again to "The Puyallup Fair", and the venue became known as "The Puyallup Fair and Events Center." 61 In 2013 the fair received its current name, the "Washington State Fair"; however, the marketing tagline "Do the Puyallup" was retained and many local people continue to refer to the fair by its previous name. During World War I, the fair did not take place. The fairgrounds closed after the 1941 fair and were occupied by the army, which set up Camp Harmony, a temporary assembly center within the system of concentration camps for Japanese Americans. A total of 7,390 Japanese Americans from the Seattle-Tacoma area and Alaska were confined in converted
horse stables and barracks constructed on adjacent parking lots, the racing track and under the grandstand 181 191 In September 1942, the Japanese Americans were sent to other locations and the camp was torn down. The fairgrounds were briefly occupied by the U.S. Army 943rd Signal Service Battalion until they were transferred to Fort Lewis, then closed until 1946, when the fair set an attendance record of
100,000 people on opening day. (6]

Admittedly i havent had coffee yet, but when i first read this i briefly thought you were referring to chasing (as in pounded metal) being applied to your walls.
Repoussé or repoussage is a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief.

Chasing (French: ciselure) or embossing is a similar technique in which the piece is hammered on the front side, sinking the metal. The two techniques are often used in conjunction.

Floor six, Quintessence! (From 3.5e) I had run out of steam at this point, so shout out to the Giant In The Playground forum for this one. Short version: Some *Nasty* spells frozen in time.
Clear plastic marking out squares with colorful dotsThe Hypertext d20 SRD

Quintessence

Metacreativity (Creation)
Level: Shaper 4
Display: Material; see text
Manifesting Time: 1 round
Range: 0 ft.
Effect: 1-inch-diameter dollop of quintessence; see text
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: None
Power Resistance: No
Power Points: 7

You collapse a bit of time from the continuum, forming a 1-ounce dollop of thick, gooey material called quintessence. This substance shimmers like a silver mirror when viewed from some angles but is transparent from other viewpoints. You can smooth a dollop of quintessence around any extremely small object.

Objects sealed within quintessence are protected from the effects of time; in practical terms, they enter a state of stasis. Living flesh with only partial contact with quintessence is also partially pulled out of the time stream (the manifester is immune to this effect). This disruption deals 1 point of damage per round beginning 10 rounds after partial contact occurs.

Quintessence can be manually scraped away from a protected object, freeing it to rejoin the time stream. When you do this, there is a 75% chance that the quintessence evaporates back into the continuum. Otherwise, it coalesces again into a 1-inch-diameter bead, available for later use.

Large quantities of quintessence could theoretically be gathered to preserve large items or structures (or even a complete living creature; if completely immersed, a living creature would not take the damage associated with partial contact). However, psionic characters and creatures are generally loath to do so because accumulations of quintessence weighing 1 pound or more hinder psionic activity within a 5-foot radius of the accumulation: Powers require twice as many power points to manifest, unless the manifester makes a successful DC 16 Will save each time he or she attempts to manifest a power. Also in these circumstances, manifesting a psi-like ability that is usable at will is a full-round action rather than a standard action.Segev said:

E Re: Collapsing dungeon puzzles and challenges?

HELP ME!?

A room flooded with Quintessence that has visible but temporally-suspended explosions already going off inside. Not only is it necessary to find a way through it without causing all of the Quintessence to evaporate (and release the explosions), but opening the door to even see inside has caused the stuff to start leaking out. The Quintessence itself is a sort of trap, because of its effects on psionics and its effects on anybody caught in it.

Time Hop traps in a room where the floor or ceiling is collapsing.

A Reverse Gravity effect mid-way through the vertical portion of a room causes a ceiling to constantly collapse, slow down, and fall back up, nearly-reforming before it falls apart again. The twist is that the actual reverse gravity effects are on the "floor" on which the PCs are walking and the "ceiling" above, causing the "ceiling" to
"collapse" upwards until it hits the null-magic zone in the middle of the room, at which point inertia and gravity take over to cause the broken bits to slow down their ascent and fall back down into the Reverse Gravity effect there.
The room's exit is on the (original) floor (now the
"ceiling"), requiring the PCs to pass through what at first seems a Reverse Gravity section that is actually an anti-magic field interrupting the larger Reverse Gravity effect.
Dispelling or Disjoining the magic causing the "ceiling" to keep reversing direction allows the whole thing to fall into whatever lies below the true down of the "ceiling"
"above."
