If nothing else AI is making clear that there are people all around us for whom writing, art, and music are not communion with another mind, but just - wallpaper. Just pleasant things to look at. They think AI is conscious because they have no actual grasp of what it is to encounter another mind.

If you are wondering why the rear carriages of Sydney trains are closed ATM, it's because idiotic video shorts popularised people breaking into the unmanned drivers cab - and apparently closing the whole carriage even in rush hours is the only way to deal with this 🙄 www.abc.net.au/news/2026-09...

Why passengers are being barred from rear carriages on these Sydney trains
After multiple security breaches, the back carriage has been closed off on many Tangara trains.

Am I missing something here? Why is a private company being handed massive incentives to reopen this factory? Surely if the items are viable at that price point from other factories then more factories can be built or prices adapt to make them viable? www.abc.net.au/news/2026-09...

Is it just be, or have data centres become the next 5G masts. I understand the issues with location & impact, but many diatribes about them appear to have lost touch with reality. Also - not every data centre is AI. There were plenty before that - but you wouldn't believe it from current stories.

After years of successively hard line on immigration home secretaries, it is clear the UK far right won't be appeased - so why did parties keep pandering to them, pretending that they will become happy? Also - doesn't his referring to the "Pakistani parasite" come under anti racism laws?
