As many people have observed, the problem with vaccines is that they work *too* well. The incredible, astounding, profound wonders of vaccines led many people to think of measles as a rash, the flu as a bad cold, mumps as a thing that makes you look like Brando playing Don Corleone.

My home town. The EU paid the fees for my MSc at St Andrew’s which meant I could stay home and help care for my dying dad whilst studying. Later, it supported us setting up a research lab further north, in terms of infrastructure, staff and PhD students.

We were at the parade but further along. We walked back up through Liverpool One but could easily have gone up Dale Street. Mum, dad, an LFC mad teen and his 9 year old sister. We got back to our hotel to so many messages asking if we were ok. Glad we turned right instead of left.
