This is quite extraordinary. I don't think I have heard a more coherent, articulate and accurate deconstruction & demolition of Nigel Farage's ReformUK, Tory & Restore policy than this. In under 85 seconds! @rafaelbehr.bsky.social is on here folks and worth a follow.

Earlier this year, I had job interviews at unis in different European countries, and they all noted the increase in applicants from Britain. I am now happily employed in Denmark, together with several UK colleagues who are also glad to be out of the country. But it is a sad development.

I think from a discourse perspective, both PMs are very interesting to look at. Especially in a multimodal study. Burnham possibly sounds more upbeat and positive in comparison to Starmer. Body language different too?

Any way it can be turned into a retrospective, a look at why he failed etc and how Burnham may be different or how he needs to be to succeed?

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.

This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.

Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.

Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.

Abolish ICE.

It's a tough one alright. Especially in J League, where it is accepted practice for bigger clubs to nab a player doing well after only 6-12 months. Just look at Kumamoto. Feels like small clubs are being punished for bringing through lots of talented players. :(

...but I don't feel too bad about the moves because they're a bit older now and we managed to keep them for 2-3 years. I assume we got a transfer fee for both too. It also helps that we didn't lose 4 or 5 other key players in the same window! (We play each other this weekend. 😱)

Iwaki's strategy as a club is laudable but it does seem like you need to be an Ōmiya with rich owners to be able to hold onto your bright prospects and add a few older gamechangers/foreigners. Akita have just lost Morooka (29) to Kyoto & Sato (27) to Iwata...

ICE SHOOT MAN AND LEAVE HIM LYING IN THE STREET Does that work? 🧐 Fairly tragic the kind of hedging they engage in when it shouldn't matter whether it was "mistaken" or not. They shot someone.

Didn't record labels often pay them to run around screaming, crying etc? It happened in Sinatra's early days with the bobby-soxers. Some were genuine but it was also common practice to hire a few girls to draw attention to acts.

Does make me chuckle (darkly) when people say they're worried about a rise in foreigners as they won't understand Japan's laws/rules. I see several drivers break numerous laws every day. Looking at their phones while driving, going through a red light, speeding....🤔🧐

I think Akita have had this strategy for the last few seasons. We have just about the smallest wage budget in J2 so can't have a bloated squad without it being JFL level. 😆 2nd/3rd-choice keeper is a loan from a bigger club etc.

Let's hope he can do better than that selfish effort at the end when others were better placed to have a go. I think there's a big gap between J1 and J2 that often gets ignored. Look at how Nagasaki and S Pulse are also pretty low down. They were filthy rich in J2!

Shimane! I lived in Tsuwano for three years a couple of decades ago. A lovely place that I think has increased tourist numbers since I left but it must be challenging maintaining a tourist industry with a swiftly-falling working population.
