Word of the day is ‘foozle’, from the 19th century: of a golfer, to bungle a shot. More generally, to make a complete mess of something.

Not that you'd know it from British media. I read a post recently that said, roughly: "To British news media, some events happened in the world today that weren't in the US".

This is how the media bullying about benefits nearly destroyed me - over many years (when I didn't know ASD and ADHD were an issue of mine). And with no hyperbole involved I feel I'm still just waiting to die because of it.

I've paid my landlord's mortgage off over the last 20 years, and in 3 months, I'll be homeless because he's pushing the rent up again. Until we treat housing as a human right for all, rather than a profit-making commodity for the few, we'll never see an end to homelessness and insecure housing ❤️🚩✊🏾

Helen Macfarlane died #OnThisDay 1860. Described on her gravestone only as ‘the wife of Rev John W Edwards’, she had led a remarkable life as witness to the European revolutions of 1848 and as a friend of Karl Marx and Frederick Engels. www.chartistancestors.co.uk/helen-macfar...

Helen Macfarlane was the first translator of the Communist Manifesto into English - and was probably the most influential woman in Chartism. This is her life story

Yeah its the Bogart and Bacall version tonight which is a terrific film. Many seem to prefer either Bogie or Powell as Marlows but I like them both, though they are very different. I re read The Big Sleep recently but am still non the wiser about who killed the Sternwood chauffer.

Harry Secombe as the Beadle in the film Oliver. He stands with a pompous beadle hat holding a pompous Beadle staff with a silver top. He is trapped in a pompous Beadle cloak with golden braid and the is on the verge of saying, "MORE?!?!" in response to Oliver's request for food.
