It does matter. At this increased rate of warming it means 2.5C above 1850 levels arrives by 2039 - that’s less than 14 years from now. Not 2100. That’s an incredibly destructive climate to try and grow food in and live in. Only 14 years away.

We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.

People need to either get on board with the political class in the West and accept child rape as an acceptable billionaire activity, or we need to put those billionaires in jail. There isn’t really a middle road option.

The demonization of Somalis is no different than the demonization of Haitians before the election. It's a political attack and has to be actively fought—not through half-measures or expressions of tepid concern but by demanding decency from society and respect for all of humanity.

Animals affect ecosystems within ecological limits. Industrial systems override them. No animal flattens mountaintops, fragments watersheds, mines globally, & redistributes materials at planetary scale. Invoking animals normalizes impacts that are categorically different in magnitude & permanence.

Don't mistake my disdain for the ultra-rich for jealousy. I don’t want your yacht, mansion, or your gold-leaf dinner. I want roads that don't crumble, hospitals that heal, schools that teach, & people who can afford to live. I’m just pissed that you’d rather hoard than have a functioning society.

Genuine question: Why's the reaction of many politicians to AI 'it's transformational, we must go faster, we can dismiss concerns over energy, copyright, job losses', yet the reaction to a clean tech transition that's more advanced and has less overt downsides is 'steady now, we need to slow down'.
