Youtube trying to subtitle an episode of Speaking our Language (a Gaelic language learning show from the 1990s for listeners outwith Scotland) has inevitably spectacularly wrong but also amusing results.
Caption "hello Liana give it her chef ah kobata love connacher fien cleaver" instead of "halo Catriona, ciamar a tha sibh? Tha gu math tapadh leat. Ciamar a tha sibh thein? Gle mhath"caption "market Danielle had this shot Kirsty in unicum" instead of "seo a mac Neil agus seo Kirsty a nighean agam"Caption "I guess showing the yeah console this Chuck Fionna and you nothing" instead of "Agus seo agam Domhnall, agus seo Catriona tha nighean agam"Caption "it's mission more a collage hello all right come on a high shelf" instead of "Is mise Morag Nicleoid, Halo Morag, ciamar a tha sibh?"

The planet with the fastest rotation speed is Jupiter, where a day takes about 9 hrs 50 min (slightly longer at the poles). Jupiter's equator is spinning at 43,000 km/h; 26X the speed of the Earth's at 1,670 km/h. Meaning 'standing still' on Jupiter's equator is still traveling at Mach 35.

25 years ago, light bulbs were the single largest use of electricity in American homes. By 2018, energy-efficient LEDs had shrunk that use. What’s likely to dominate in the future? Amazing interactive by @NYTimes www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
Streamgraph titled "Residential electricity by use" showing U.S. home energy consumption by category from 2000-2025, measured in quadrillion BTU. Headline: "Around 2000, lighting was the single largest use of electricity in American homes. By 2018, energy-efficient lightbulbs had shrunk the category to sixth place." The lighting band (highlighted in green) starts near the top around 3 quadrillion BTU in 2000, holds steady through the mid-2010s, then drops sharply after 2015 to under 1 by 2020, settling below cooling, heating, water heating, refrigeration, televisions, and dryers.Streamgraph extending the residential electricity-by-use chart to 2050, with a vertical divider at 2025 separating "historical" from "projected" data. Headline: "Energy forecasters expect that electric vehicles will come to dominate residential power use over the next few decades, contributing to an increase in overall electricity use." A new green band labeled "E.V. charging" appears near zero in the mid-2020s and grows steeply after 2035, becoming the largest single category by 2050, pushing total residential electricity use well above 4 quadrillion BTU, above cooling, heating, refrigeration, and dryers.Streamgraph titled "Commercial electricity by use," historical data 2000-2025 with projections to 2050 divided by a vertical line at 2025. Headline: "But it's now changing fast. The explosive growth of data centers will help drive electricity use higher than ever." A green band labeled "Computing" is negligible before 2015, rises modestly through the early 2020s, then climbs steeply from the early 2030s onward, becoming a dominant category by 2050 alongside ventilation, cooling, and refrigeration, driving total commercial use toward 4 quadrillion BTU.

The latest OECD PISA results show record-low average scores, with one in five students classed as low performers. Long texts and sustained attention are a particular challenge. The OECD points to more screen time, less reading for pleasure and widening educational inequality.
