Some GOOD news - remember this young person you all helped raise money for his trip? He made it! www.linkedin.com/posts/ditiro...
Last week, I had the amazing opportunity to attend PyCon Namibia 2025 on their 10th anniversary as a speaker and attendee. This was my second PyCon this year, and it was just as incredible as the first!

A huge thank you to Scott Hanselman and his network for making this possible by helping with my fundraiser, and to Daniele Procida, what would I do without you? Your support means so much!

PyCon Namibia is always a great experience, meeting new people, reconnecting with familiar faces, and finally putting names to faces I've only known online. It truly shows the power of the Python community.

A special shoutout to the organizers and volunteers, Jessica Upani, Ngazetungue Muheue, Tinomudaishe Ndhlovu, Ngatatue Mate, Daniele Procida and others, for all the hard work behind the scenes. Events like this wouldn’t happen without passionate people like you! I must highlight that they are my family, they are always there for everything I need.

Stay tuned for Part 2, where I’ll share more about my experiences. 🚀

I'm still very proud that I was able to get this paragraph in a company announcement blog post
Before, it said “o1-preview (Preview)” and now it just says “o1 (Preview)” because the GitHub model picker is in preview, but not the model itself. We have proven once again that the hardest problem in computer science is naming things, but yo dawg, we no longer have previews on previews. We are a very professional business.

Anyway.

Donald Knuth on the rewards of computer programming
Computer programs are fun to write, and well-written computer programs are fun to read. One of life's greatest pleasures can be the composition of a computer program that you know will be a pleasure for other people to read, and for yourself to read.

Computer programs can also do useful work. One of life's greatest sources of satisfaction is the knowledge that something you have created is contributing to the progress or welfare of society.

Some people even get paid for writing computer programs! Programming can therefore be triply rewarding on aesthetic, humanitarian, and economic grounds.
