Not exactly on budget but more on regional development & funding strategies & practices. Seeking competitiveness without neglecting regional balance, including focus on areas other than metropolises. I guess the shift of COM is more based on ideology rather than solid empirical evidence.

Over the Congress, a large number of panel and paper sessions were held based on inputs by speakers all across Europe, which were quite inspiring. Testing the int'l format may have proven useful, so a continuation in 2 yrs' time seems probable.

Likewise, Rachel Lancry Beaumont from the EU's #EuropeanCommitteeoftheRegions provided a complementary view on the same subject by policy & practice. Rather inspiring, despite the bleak outlook on the possibly scarce resources for a sustainable and just regional development.

Sitting wit my 🇺🇦colleague and family visitors from #Dnipro for breakfast, while phones are ringing, bringing news about rocket attacks on their hometown #Brovary. Relatives seem to be OK, but nobody can accommodate to air raids coming in every two hours. Distant things can become awfully close.

Das Geschäftsmodell ist nicht zukunftsfest. Leider scheinen sich zarte Reformansätze nur auf Teilaspekte zu beziehen, während Academia tendenziell Objekt eines entgrenzten wettbewerblichen Zirkus’ bleibt. Unbefriedigend für die große Mehrheit der Beteiligten.

Yep—das System ist über dem Anschlag: Es wird zuviel produziert; niemand kann mit all dem ‘Wissen’ sinnvoll Schritt halten; die Überhöhung des Faktors Publikationen im Recruitment (nicht was, sondern wo?) führt zu Dysfunktion bei Schreibenden, HerausgeberInnen & Verlagen.
