We will start 25 days of strike action next week as we fight to save jobs at University of Dundee. Join us on the picket line on our first day of our action (Monday 21st September) and you will find a delicious selection of home baked treats. Raising money for the student hardship fund and members.

My family moved in the 70s from Bracknell (see Broadmoor reply above) to the nuclear triangle between Aldermaston, Burghfield and Greenham. So an alarm like this makes me start unscrewing doors so I can cower underneath one propped against a wall. Protect and survive …

I once nearly applied for a job in which the first statements in the description were: 1) that they aimed to have 1/3 of their catchment area enrolled on a course (area defined as the south of England, inc. London); and 2) that they did not believe class size had any effect on quality. In 1998.

French radio very varied, but France Culture/Inter etc. are good. Basically reinforces your point though: public service basis rather than commercial.

Much of the world’s violence stems from the desire to prevent the coming generations from changing the world, so as to preserve the status quo from which those in power benefit. It begins by limiting attempts to imagine that different world. This matters. www.artsprofessional.co.uk/news/dfe-sla...

Education, education, ssshhhh. The sheer negligence of this highlights the contradiction between the casual destruction of higher education and every policy ambition (social mobility, growth, employability, economic health of ‘regions’, etc.). Self-interest doesn’t need to be very enlightened here.

Wonderful that that nice Mr Trump thinks Harry Kane, scorer of of one goal, is great. I wonder why he didn’t mention Jude Bellingham, scorer of two goals? Thankfully we can’t suspect any prejudice, or else it might seem odd.

There are plenty of things to agree with in Alan Milburn’s report on our responsibility to a generation. What is inexcusable is to make no connection to presiding over the wholesale collapse of the higher education sector and to fail to see how these are linked. Denial is not a solution.
