As others have noted, primary rarely has changing rooms so it’s not a surprising result although it is perhaps surprising that it took Covid to make people realise this was a sensible policy.

Modest proposal: companies should stop sending you customer satisfaction surveys after everything you buy or experience but should make it easy for you to report exceptional customer service by their staff.

Think it shows both the confused position of the govt and the relative powers of new/old media that the PM won't speak to The Sun but still uses the CSAM & disinformation app owned by the guy who advocates for the overthrow of the government.

Very perceptive. I think this is why we are seeing Reform raising issues of ethnic minorities dominating grammar schools. It’s the kind of integration they claim to support but it isn’t the Good Old Days….

I’d love to see some polling on the decision to charge Captain Thugwash because it feels that Reform are putting themselves on the wrong side of public opinion again.

Somehow missed this announcement about Impossible Creatures when it came out….and I am not sure how i feel about it. On the one hand, it’s a lovely gesture but on the other hand, it feel tokenistic and unlikely to shift the dial on reading. Others? #KidLitUK literacytrust.org.uk/resources/th...

Only 3 chapters in but Pure Invention by @mattalt.bsky.social alread my feels like it will be my favourite non-fiction book I read this year. The cover is superb as well.
Cover of Pure Invention by Matt Alt in 3 colours of pale red, white and black divided into panels like a manga with aspects of Japanese pop culture in each one.

Fascinating column. Makes you wonder if what actually kills off grammar schools might be racists who don’t like the way they are filling up with immigrants.

On the one hand, if you see a guy with a stand ranting about immigration, it’s probably best to ignore and not give him content for X and TikTok. On the other hand, watching these young Scousers take him down is undeniably fun.
