Great article. I started with a second-hand copy of Guards! Guards! and never looked back. It's the sheer humanity of his writing, it courses through every sentence, his multi-special City Watch follows naturally; Vimes is a hero for all times. And also, it's why Johnson could not understand it.

Yes, a big agreement with you on this. Michael's point....well, if you're watching this film I think you can assume some foreknowledge of her work, and the documentary does go into the technicalities of how that powerful imagery was achieved. But the big thing for me was how it displayed.....
