What a week! I was only elected as @bhgreens.bsky.social councillor for #QueensPark #Brighton&Hove last Fri & I've already: * Met dog-owners at #BarkInThePark * Volunteered at junior #ParkRun * Stopped #BT putting in a pole narrowing the pavement. & now I'm off to deliver my maiden speech! 💚

Hi, as the newly elected councillor it's good to see someone else explaining what happened. But I just wanted to stress that while bits of #QueensPark are indeed well-healed, they're next to some of the most deprived areas in #Brighton & #Hove, & indeed the country!

No tactics involved! Just a reflection of the hard work put in by @bhgreens.bsky.social & my decades long record of campaigning for environmental & social issues in #Queen'sPark #Brighton!

Great piece by @chrisboardman.bsky.social chrisboardmancbe.substack.com/p/the-elepha.... Like Chris, trying to get better walking, wheeling & cycling has pushed my campaigning & professional career for decades. And if I'm elected to @brighton-hove.gov.uk tomorrow, that won't change! #VoteGreen

As a @ukfost.co.uk supporter, it's good to see their statement on Milliband's decision on proportionate sanctions on illegal actions of Israeli leadership & W Bank settlers. Suggesting that solidarity with @standing-together.bsky.social is ‘anti-Israeli’ is ludicrous. ukfost.co.uk/uk-friends-o...

London: Over fifty people filled the room for our Solidarity in Action event in support of Protect the Harvest last week. It was a very engaged and emotional evening. Big thanks to our wonderful speakers, FoST activists Beau Sebastian, Marcia Gamsu, and David Bier and our special guest Finn Joughin.

Rosh HaShana, or the Jewish New Year, begins on Friday at sundown. It’s a deeply meaningful time and the start of a period when Jews are told to think deeply on their actions and to ask forgiveness not only from God but from other human beings for wrongdoing. (1/3)

I was part of #ShortTermLets working group looking at impact on residents of #Brighton & #Hove. I'm pleased to see that action is finally being taken, though not the full licensing scheme we asked for. But at least formal registration might get some housing back into the system

As a transport planner, I know that clear pavements are crucial for #Disabled people to walk & wheel easily. So why have @brighton-hove.gov.uk put this communal bin over tactile paving? I've been asking #BHCC for years to get basic accessibility right - electing me will help make that happen!

Small businesses are feeling the squeeze whilst large banks are raking in obscene profits. It's time for windfall tax on big bank profits to end rip-off Britain.

A green graphic with a fist depicted breaking a piggy bank and cash falling out with text that reads "Tax big banks to back small businesses. Big banks are raking it in... The UK's biggest banks are regularly making record-breaking profits. Not because they are improving their services of products... but simply because of high interest rates set by the Bank of England. High interest rates = big bank profits.

Take Barclays. It saw profits jump in the first six months of 2026, boosting its bonuses for executives by nearly 30%. Small businesses aren't so lucky. The same high interest rates that are boosting big bank profits are squeezing the small businesses by pushing up costs. Something should be done…

A green graphic with coins falling and an arrow pointing upwards with text that reads “Tax big banks to back small businesses” as a headline and “while the taxpayer pays twice” and “As interest rates have gone up, the Bank of England now pays more out to commercial banks in interest than it gets back from the gilts it bought following the 2008 crash. Who covers this shortfall? The Treasury - aka, the taxpayer. And this is on top of higher interest rates we're paying on our loans and mortgages. While people and small businesses struggle, the big banks' profits soar.” as body text

Thrilled to announce I'm @bhgreens.bsky.social candidate for #Queen'sPark #Brighton by-election on 24 Sept. It's been called after a *third* Labour councillor has resigned here since the 2023 @brighton-hove.gov.uk elections. I'm ready to step up & fight hard for the community where I live & work!
