In general I’m resolutely against the use of AI in music but I’d make an exception for any technology that could eliminate Keith Jarrett’s constant humming, singing, grunting, and groaning while he’s playing.

It's always interesting to see what Mondrian was up to before he went abstract, but that painting is a hard ask!

First house I moved into had a hatch, but the hatch had no doors. My Dad made some doors for me, but they never shut properly despite many attempts at fettling them.

Authors! If you must respond to your bad reviews, do it as graciously as Oliver Hardy when Walter Winchell trashed the film 'Nothing But Trouble' in 1945. (Bookmarking this post in case I need it in November.)

Well, I guess it was a success of sorts? In 1998, Honduras built a bridge designed to survive any storm. It survived a Category 5 hurricane perfectly but the river shifted, leaving it spanning over dry land. Source: www.reddit.com/r/geography/...

The illustration shows Mallard as it was then, in British Railways livery. But it is now in the garter blue livery it wore originally when it was owned by the LNER.

This tangentially reminds me of the special shirts Sony had made for staff selling the first Walkmans. The selling point was they'd fit in a shirt pocket, which they didn't, unless you had a shirt with a slightly oversized breast pocket.

The album came out about a couple of years after the Peel session. I remember being amazed by The Fall Of Saigon, then being disappointed that I couldn't buy it. I just had the ropey copy I made off the radio. FWIW the session was repeated on Alan Freeman's Saturday afternoon show.

H.V. Morton knew how to enjoy himself.
A short extract from In Search Of England, which reads

‘For the last ten days I have been miserable. I have been prostrate in bed with a red-hot throat and a foul temper which turned into a fine pathos, and the dismal belief that I was about to commit the supreme sin against good manners and die in an hotel. You may do almost anything in an hotel but die there.
One night, under the influence of a cocaine pill and a raw egg, I sat up and wrote the most miserable essay that has ever been written about the country graveyards of [England].’
