I want to start watching #fourhandstwosonatas, but I’m waiting to find out if there’s some sort of terrible end as that will influence if I will pick it up or not. But I’m avoiding the tag because I don’t want to be spoiled. Someone tell me if I should watch it after today’s episode airs.

My Rage Against the Machine/Les Mis mashup is complete. This is my interpretation of the quilt guild’s summer challenge “quilt with your interpretation and/or feelings towards our current ‘democracy’” all hand stitched.

Quilt hanging on a card catalog. Neutral background with navy cursive appliqué “Do you hear thr people sing?” The background is embroidered in red starting light and getting bolder the lyrics to “killing in the name” the quilting effect is a focused sunburst from the center.

My three legged cat has figured out how to climb a ladder so when she jumps into the neighbours area, I just put out the ladder and she rescues herself. I am incredibly impressed because I used to have to climb over and pick her up, which was a pain in the arse.

On Sunday I had a nice little interaction with a toddler. He was clearly very interested in my wheelchair, so I spun on the spot for him a couple of times. He then started rocking out with a wooden fork as if it was a guitar so I joined him with the drums. He gave me a little wave when I left. 🥰

Saw The Odyssey in IMAX today. I find it magic that it’s thousands of years and we’re still telling this story. I’m too old for Percy Jackson - my gateway greek myth was ‘Odysseus: The Greatest Hero of Them All’ by Richard Curtis and Tony Robinson so I have a specifically soft spot for Odysseus.

Huge fire about down our street tonight in second floor flat. Saw smoke & flames pouring out the window & it spread to the flat above. Luckily no one was hurt. Turns out it was caused by a mirror on a table by a window being hit by sunlight. 4 fire engines to put it out.

Reading up on the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom (1851–1864) and holy moly it is fascinating. Particularly interested in the declaration of gender equality for women and the women only military units and the first & only woman who took and came first in the civil service exam. I want a drama on her!

I got home from my trip just in time for my bearded Iris to flower! It hasn’t flowered in several years so it’s really giving me a lot of joy. It is the offspring of plant that grew in my childhood garden.

So because of my disability I have a cleaner who comes in every 2 weeks and helps me keep on top of everything - lovely Italian guy. He needs to skip the next clean because he is also a part-time journalist, and he’s going to go and cover the Cannes film festival in a fancy suit! Great reason!

Finally made it to Project Hail Mary. First time I’ve been out to the cinema in my wheelchair & I discovered a whole wheelchair lift & corridor (with the projectors) to get you to the seat at the back of the cinema. Fun! First time I’ve been to the cinema since Barbie, & it was definitely worth it.
