We derived six laws of psychophysics from a single efficient-coding equation. The laws include Weber's law; scaling laws in visual working memory (which had been noted before, but with unclear theoretical justification); Wei & Stocker's law of human perception; arthurprat.com/pdfs/Prat-Ca...

1/6 New preprint! 🧵 How do we decide to decide? With @aleyamarzuki.bsky.social we showed that the interplay between urgency, evidence accumulation, and prediction errors converges in the dmPFC, into one signal: keep gathering information, or stop and commit to a choice. doi.org/10.64898/202...

Perceptual learning without feedback is accompanied with systematic changes in confidence processing
Abstract. Perceptual learning can occur without external feedback, raising questions about what internal signals might guide this learning. Here, we test t

New paper out in JEP:HPP! psycnet.apa.org/doi/10.1037/... Can we learn from things we're not paying attention to? We used a contextual cueing paradigm to pit selective attention against spatial prediction during visual search in 2 high-powered (N=104) experiments — and found they actively compete.

Glad to share my first paper in postdoc! This was a huge undertaking by many people over the years. I hope you read it! But the short version is this: ACC integrates evidence from self experience and observed experience, and it weighs these sources differently by aligning readout more to the self.
