One thing I find endlessly funny about the rise of AI is that it has revealed that there is a large number of people who believe that the reason they wrote essays at school or university is their teachers were desperately waiting for them to provide a definite answer to “Lear: what’s up with him?”

Does anyone know of a performance of the Weill/Brecht Dreigroschenoper that was filmed? The full opera, not the Pabst movie

Does he see the future? Or does he just have a particular direction he's invested in trying to pursue? If "we're" not in it, it's because that's what's most profitable for him, not because that's actually a predetermined fact.

There is a Jeeves story from Jeeves's POV (by Wodehouse)! I bet it was inspired by the Holmes stories Conan Doyle wrote from Holmes's POV. It's charming Having said that, Ring for Jeeves (third person POV, no Bertie) was dreadful, obviously mostly Wodehouse's writing partner

I know this isn’t useful but it’s weird how “the president should be coherent” was a Very Important Thing just a few years ago and then suddenly wasn’t.

There's an early talkie with this premise where Edna May Oliver, through wisdom and organizational skill, becomes General Secretary of the UN. Saw it at a festival and still remember it fondly

I'll never understand how "a lot of mostly/potentially/probably incorrect metadata is better for digital discovery than accurate but sparse metadata" became a popular idea than "we will put things online more slowly, but we will do it with accuracy"

The face of a dog that's never held butter in her mouth before and is unsure that she made the right choice, but in this house we commit to the bit
The cropped face is a yellow dog with a pink nose named Subaru holding a stick of butter in her mouth, with a little smeared on her nose. It's exactly as silly as you think it is.

Brainstorming: My library is doing a Halloween event which consists of three separate games. A patron who completes one game will get candy. A patron who completes all three games will get a grand prize. What should the grand prize be? I need ideas that are 1) inexpensive 2) fun 3) Halloween-y
