We should not pit fanartists versus non fanartists against each other. It fucking benefits no one to do this. We should also not put comic creators/book writers/story tellers against merch artists. Again this fucking benefits either of us. /2

Absolutely no shame to the original artist here! This is a problem with people shotgun applying to events that were not designed for their business BUT this conversation is turning up some incredibly bad faith arguments and I wanna unpack that /1

The video game market is crashing once again. It's time for Nintendo to bring out the big guns for Switch 2. It's HIS time.

Also adding one final thought: for a big game like OoT, not showing much and sharing a 2026 release with no specific date or window when it's mid-June doesn't bolster a whole lot of confidence.

Adding to that, I think the audience who would've been interested in the first place found shop in decomp projects and homemade HD mods. An OoT remake in this economy has to be more than a 1-to-1 prettier version to break through that and be interesting in its own right.

Two, I think the overall appeal of remakes have wound down since FF7R's announcement. Coupled with "Nintendo hire this man" memes and "Focus M", I think at least on the Nintendo side of things, big remakes aren't as interesting, esp. with indies embracing N64/GCN imperfections.

I think it's a couple of things. One, Square wasn't in the best position software-wise at the time, so them actually going for FF7R was like "in case of emergency break glass", and not many thought that it'd ever actually happen after that PS3 tech demo a decade prior to 7R's announcement.

I think that’s probably why I love the GC Animal Crossing the most. I dug the “slowness” of it, yet there were enough things to do to make that in-game day worth playing because of the small stuff. That and I never liked how they made the characters tall in the 3DS game onwards lol

We're coming up on the 20th anniversary of YGO Abridged but there's a decent chance I'll be kicked out of my home before that, so I'm gonna be streaming a 20th anniversary celebration to YouTube in the coming days while also trying to raise money to hopefully prevent that from happening. *sigh*

saw the 9 games thing go on so I gave it a shot

A 3x3 grid from the "9 games that make me" site. Starting from the top left to bottom right:
* Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
* Team Fortress 2
* Burnout Revenge
* Sonic Adventure 2: Battle
* Super Mario 64
* The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
* Super Smash Bros. Melee
* Paper Mario
* Pokémon Gold Version
Due to the site originating in Japanese, some of the game covers are of the Japanese versions.

I feel like this would be softened if they had a TON of titles set and staged over a healthy period, but we're talking about the same company that dropped Bluepoint like a brick. Who is making games for Sony with enough output to justify a smaller pool of players?
