These anonymous MPs saying it's 'electoral suicide' to tinker with the triple lock. Exactly the type who got us into this mess: unwilling to lead, unwilling to recognise reality for fear of offending voters, unwilling to solve long-term problems if it presents the slightest short-term risk.

There are many people who struggle to pay the bills and put food on the table as it is and now the government expect these same people to find the money to buy a bunch of stuff to put in a cupboard and forget about. They are totally disconnected from the reality of millions living in the UK.

This should be the moment people finally realise that Farage has turned them into fascists. If you’re choosing this dangerous inhumanity over the rescue work of the RNLI, you’ve lost your minds to racism and hatred.

And as with Jason Arday, you can see the problem here. Because a handful of gatekeepers decide what is ‘news’ & what isn’t. This is a stunning investigation but if & how it catches fire depends on the follow-up…& Times & Telegraph are embarrassed & implicated. So much now depends on the BBC…

With our pitiful levels of enforcement and monitoring of donations I cannot be convinced that this sort of behaviour does not historically only belong to Reform, the voices calling for harsh penalties will not be as many as you might expect. Look out for the ones that stay silent.

It was only a matter of time before a media driven pile-on led to the suicide of the target individual. A topflight football referee gave up his job in the last couple of days exactly because of the constant attacks on their decisions by the media and the supposed experts the media encourages.

If Farage gets in he will not care what his manifesto says, he will set about changing everything he needs to in order to consolidate his power and position. If we remain complacent about his intentions to mimic Trumps behaviour we will have nobody to blame but ourselves. It's now or never.

Condemning riots isn't enough. We need policy action, including an immediate appraisal of X as a vehicle for coordinating far-right disorder. And we need political leadership, to challenge white nationalism as an idea, not to validate it daily and then complain when it turns violent.
