Impossible to understand how anyone could look at Rufo's career and conclude he was someone engaged in a "forthright defense of meritocracy." Rufo's entire career is built on the idea of purging people who don't think or look like him from positions of power.

Absolutely horrible. The hate we’re seeing against South Asians doesn’t come from thin air, but from this administration’s racist rhetoric, as evident in the DHS post last week. More community members will get hurt unless and until it stops.

something i learned about journalism during the iraq war: all the outlets who had "access" to key figures - people like bush, cheney, rice, senior dems, etc - these are all the people who got the story wrong. it was the reporters working outside the system, usually far from dc, who got it right.

TX GOP candidate Bo French wants you to think South Asian Americans at a football game are a "problem" but don't fall for his racist scapegoating. This is the real issue: When public figures use their platform to spew hate, it normalizes cruel stereotypes & can provoke hate against everyday people.

This year, a Republican-controlled Congress pledged $70b more in taxpayer funding for ICE and DHS on top of the additional $170b Congress gave them last year. Instead of funding terror, violence, & xenophobia, imagine if that money was used to ensure families had healthcare, food, & a home.
