Hosting people in your house consistently for dinner or cards or whatnot is the greatest joy i have found in life & I’m fairly introverted. Doing it will radically change everything about your day to day life for the better.

Had a good time at prerelease. 4-mana Rhystic Jace won me a couple games. Not a fan of Planeswalkers taking over the game, even when they work for me. Some other games I lost against big beaters and no removal. Will need to play more but generally disappointed although nothing like the small sets.

Sure, it is worse than Lab Man or Thoracle. But decks that want this effect will be happy to have a third copy of it.

Fblthp, Impossibly Lost
{1}{U}
Legendary Creature — Homunculus
When one or more of your opponents are dealt combat damage during your turn, draw two cards. If your library has no cards in it, you win the game. Fblthp’s owner shuffles him into their library. (If you draw from an empty library this way, you still win the game.)
Fblthp had definitely made a wrong turn.

Also didn’t order this one at $9 but I see a potential for decks that want a looting artifact rattlesnake boardwipe

I pre-ordered a bunch of Reality Fracture cards that seemed underpriced. I think some of y’all are sleeping on some good stuff

The dilemmas of 2026 design… “Is it worse to have players not want to play Iron Man because it's bad, or have them not want to participate in the games involving it because the games are bad?” armlx.blogspot.com/2026/09/2026...

I will absolutely be the incorrigible pedant reminding everyone at the pre-release that the plural of Elder Sphinx is Elder Sphinges.

Waiting to pick up my daughters at school. I asked a kid who I know plays Magic if he was excited for Reality Fracture. He asked what show it is based on. 🤦‍♂️ But I explained it was based on Magic lore and he still seemed interested.

Maro on what went wrong with March of the Machine: Aftermath share.transistor.fm/s/fe03abb5 - Scored 5% approval from Magic players. Most sets score 80%+. Worst up to that point was 25%. - Removing Commons but charging same price removed lots of value - Can’t play Limited (a proxy for casual play)

Today I decided to talk a little bit about the mirrored legends of FRA. These cards were very difficult to design and develop: They have loads of constraints and high expectations. We were up to the challenge though, and I think they turned out really sweet! 1/N

Also, some of the card designs were giving the Star Trek set a bad rep.
