It sounds like Darkhold Destiny will apply a Magic approach to narrative to the Marvel Universe. Letting Magic’s creatives loose in a Universe Beyond is something I’ve been asking for so I have to admit it: I like this!

MG Arena will be updating its packs alongside tabletop Magic, with Store packs on MTG Arena getting a take on God Packs. God Packs will not be part of Limited formats, like Draft and Sealed, on MTG Arena. More details to come as we get closer to the release of Nauctis: The Sunken Realm.

I got a crazy UW pile in draft last night, played the grindiest game against RGW, answering creatures left and right, barely alive, pushing through. 3 cards in deck, white Saheeli made a thopter the turn before, the kindred board wipe on top, fothp in hand. Draw wipe, way of the mind sculpter, used empower jace draw 2, wiped all except thopters, played folthp and hit for one on an empty board, no cards in deck, won. I have never felt better in my life.
Decided I will finish the rest of the draft the next day cause nothing is beating that high.

As much as I love my players and would be happy to do this as it IS a special moment for the player. I feel like WOTC calling out to LGS to replace it at no charge shows how little WOTC knows about the business situation for LGSs.

Handling God Packs at Your Events
Opening a God Pack can create an unforgettable moment for players and collectors, but it also presents a special circumstance during a Limited format event.
If a player opens a God Pack, they should stop and call for a judge or tournament organizer. Checking in immediately helps prevent confusion, regardless of how you decide to proceed.
You have discretion over whether the God Pack remains in the event. For any event intended to feel competitive, however, we strongly recommend the following:
• Celebrate the moment! Call attention to the rare find and share the excitement with your community
• Remove the God Pack from the event Let that player
Replace it at no charge. Give the player an unopened Booster Pack from the same set so they can continue playing.

I think the first decision made was to have fewer cards in the pack. Remember how hard they tried to make the small Aftermath packs happen. It costs them the same to print a rare as a common or uncommon. Cutting one card per pack probably means they can do larger print runs.

I agree. When I read they were taking them out of Play Boosters I thinking that’s a shame but then I saw they are keeping them in CBs. This makes all foils way more valuable and special.

If 1 out of 1000 boosters is a god pack with 14 rares, that means every 42 drafts or so will see a player open one. I imagine most stores will allow players to cash out that pack or drop to keep all the rares.

My favorite games of the whole weekend were against kids because they haven't been conditioned by magic internet drama, they are hilariously ruthless, they are always SO proud of doing cool things in a game, and they smile so hard their faces split in half when you tell them their deck is cool.

Reminder: The Bracket system isn't like wrestling weight classes where you spit in a bottle to cut water weight so you can weigh in at 159.98 for the 160lbs and under division. If you're trying to push max power without technically going to the next Bracket you're doing it wrong and/or in bad faith.
