Saw this on Reddit and thought it was only happening to one person but actually it’s happening to many people. Chat GPT consumes so much RAM and not only that it keeps running even when the macbook lid is closed, better use these Chat Bots in the browser #chatgpt #openai #macos

Leaked image of new Apple EV.

AI can help us write faster, but shipping more code is not the same as shipping better software. The real challenge now is keeping quality, clarity, and maintainability intact while we move faster. Weird times to be building software. #softwareengineering #programming #tech

AI enables product teams to produce more code, but that doesn’t automatically mean more business value or better software. To achieve that, product teams need to 1. Focus on how AI accelerates the entire dev process not just coding. Ideation, problem solving, design, testing & deployment.

I recently switched job and I have to say, even if I am using a macbook, I feel the development experience is much smoother. I had a Thinkpad before with Windows and everything was so much locked down to a point that you couldn’t install most of the developer tools and had to raise a ticket

Europe is falling back in the AI race, yes there is some startups, but nothing that can compete with the US tech giants. Also Europe should just drop all together support from US companies, look at Germany what they’ve been doing

You can already host locally AI models through tools like Ollama, if it’s a model with like 2b then your laptop can handle it, if it’s a good one with like 40b or even 180b, then you need better hardware

DRMs are completely useless, if your video game is good, people will still buy it, take a look at The Witcher 3. Not to mention that they are very bad for performance especially since they mask the real OEP and other instructions making a game harder to reverse.

If anybody outside of tech world tells you that your job as a dev is at risk, they are completely wrong. It’s true that AI simplified the workflow but with the amount of AI generated someone with knowledge has to maintain it and many times the code has been written in a very bad way

I’ve been using Github Copilot at work for a while and although it gets a lot of things right, it still needs some very detailed instructions of what to do and the tokens can run out very fast. A good software engineer will always be needed to understand the code and the business around it.

Microsoft clearly doesn’t understand that nobody is asking for more AI crap into their OS, what people are asking is a stable product that gets things done, why we can’t just have a simple product doing the bare minimum? Oh yes I know the answer … Linux 🐧 www.zdnet.com/article/wind...
