So after all that palava, the Falmouth bomb has been detonated. I've had more explosive farts. Still, glad it's all sorted.

Today is a brave day. Today I've got to pull the whole game apart, surgically remove a key component, replace it with a new shiny component I've been building in another project, then put it all back together again and hope it works. All whilst UEFN crashes every 5 minutes.

Masterchef - the TV show where you suddenly find yourself saying things like "ooh, that jus looks a bit thin", and "he's not rendered the fat on that lamb properly!", all whilst scoffing a big bag of crisps.

Something spooky this way comes! Yes the ghosts are baaaaaaaack! From 19th September to 1st November ghostly wire sculptures will appear in green spaces across the city, including the Hall's garden. Spooooktacular!
We are looking at an opaque wire sculpture in the shape of a medieval female merchant.

9/11: 25 years ago I'd just spent the morning making a bunch of people redundant, people crying, everyone looking glum, so we were all having a horrible day already. Then someone who'd survived the cull showed us BBC news on his monitor, and the day suddenly became much more horrible and surreal.

Cracking on with BONK! dev. Rewrote the lobby, so players can vote on which map to play. Adding in gameplay elements, perilous paths leading to reward/power-up chests, dissolving platforms, generally adding to the level design in levels where players don't want to just bonk each other senseless.

I watched one of Martin Piper's videos last night, where he tinkers behind the scenes of Xenon 2. He was using some fancy modern debugger, that showed you all sorts of insights into memory, blitter usage and all sorts of nerdy things that teenage me would've spontaneously combusted over.

Two things I heartily recommend: - Parsec: stunningly fast and responsive screen sharing - Lore: Epic's rapid blob-focused git alternative I can't believe how quick Lore commit/pushes are. I keep doing clones just to make sure it's all actually there. Don't bother with a GUI though, just use CLI.

Had a sudden urge to go and sort the office out. It's a mess, a desk needs taking out, plus PCs, Macs, monitors, dev kits and UPSs all need untangling and rearranging so they don't look like they've been set up by a gibbon. Walked in there, walked immediately back out again. Maybe Monday....

A typical day in game dev. Yesterday was a biggie - dynamic level loading so players can pick which map to play in. Involved all sorts of UEFN buffoonery - data layers, load/unload sequencers, sorting out which assets could be streamed in and which were global, a meaty job.

Phew! Multi map support is in, just got to make a map selection GUI now. Up to 10 players, on an island in the sky, each with 25 coins. Bonk a player for some coins, or bonk them off the edge for all their coins. Player with most coins wins.

Whilst I've been recovering I've been trying to coax my brain into action by learning UEFN and Verse - a language so unlike any other. The game's a cross between a Mario Party game, Smash Bros, and Worms. Totally silly. Bonkers, even ;) I'll release an island code when it's ready.
