Ugh, yes! My partner is recovering from major surgery so we have a bunch of prescriptions around that we don't normally. I went through our "medicines box" last night though and had to toss a bunch of stuff that was just clumping and melting together.

It's all so gross, you're right. It gets sticky so everything else sticks to it and it gets on your hands and won't come off. It's apparently possible to scrape the layer of polyurethane off ("with care") but... well, good luck to us with that, too.

Good luck keeping usable any plastic object coated in "soft touch" polyurethane (plastic handles, remote controls, some game controllers - look it up!). Good luck with anything in your pantry. We are just so ill equipped.

It's not just food, it's everything else you own, too. Almost everything is designed to function at something called "room temperature," somewhere between 65-77 F. Good luck using your computer when it's 90+ indoors for a week. Good luck running any electronics.

The problem with storing people in high rise buildings with no A/C or reasonably opening windows, during a horrendous heatwave (cough/ campus housing /cough) is not just that people can't live like that - we can maybe go find somewhere cooler to sit for a bit. It's not just you, it's your stuff

This is the way. For myself, I tell them I grew up in SLC and I probably know their church better than they do and they tend to either get mad or get starstruck/envious at the mention of the place and my refusal of it, but they skedaddle either way.

SLC proper isn't as bad (I grew up there) and it's a good place to get started. But yeah, after all of us spending time everywhere else, my oldest and her wife are back in Seattle, and my youngest and her fiance are hoping to get back there too. Us too someday but my parents are in L.A., so not yet.
