Indivisible ❌👑 @indivisible.org · 09/10/2026
Sending ICE and federal agents to polling places is blatantly illegal, but that’s never stopped Trump before. Our new zine (illustrated by acclaimed comic book artist @gregpak.net) provides a pocket-sized guide on what to do if you see ICE at the polls: indivisible.org/wp-content/u...
WHAT IF YOU SEE ICE AT THE POLLS?
(Don't worry!
Read on for the plan!)

If you see ICE or
have any other trouble when you vote, call
866-OUR-VOTE
For help in other languages, go to 866ourvote.org.
• A real person will help you and get it on the record.
• Document everything on video, safely.
• Use the Hands Off Our Vote toolkit. We have a plan!
linktr.ee/wewillvote

If you're stopped by law enforcement...
• Prioritize staying safe. Remain calm, don't resist. Keep your hands visible.
• Document everything. Record on your phone or ask a bystander to do it.
• Get the agent's badge number, name, and their agency.
• If detained, ask for a lawyer, remain silent, and do not sign anything.
• To invoke your rights sayI want to remain silent" and "I want to speak with a lawyer."
• The Constitution protects your rights no matter your immigration status.
This is educational only, not legal advice. If you need legal advice, consult an attorney.
Our core principle is a commitment to nonviolent action. Work to de-escalate any confrontations with those who disagree, and act lawfully at all times.

Today, PEN America United released the following statement - PEN America United Stands in Solidarity with Dinaw Mengestu's Resignation, Reaffirms NOLSW Resolution on Palestine (1/2)
All slides are bold white text on a black and red background with the PEN America United speech bubble logo up top.
The post reads: “PEN America United released the following statement: PEN America United Stands in Solidarity with Dinaw Mengestu's Resignation, Reaffirms NOLSW Resolution on Palestine”
1/8On July 9, 2026, the President of PEN America’s Board of Trustees, Dinaw Mengestu, resigned from his role following the publication of a piece which centers the voices of some Israeli and Jewish authors who have experienced censorship, decrease in book deals, or sales in the past several years–primarily with a focus on how “calls to boycott Israeli cultural institutions have had an impact across the international literary and creative communities.”
2/8PEN America United (PAU), the Union of PEN America’s workers who are represented by NOLSW/UAW Local 2320, notes that despite several members working in communications and in relevant programmatic areas, members had no input into the research, drafting, editorial process, or publication of the piece. Upon publication, the Union raised the likely impact on members’ working conditions, relationships with external partners, as well as the question of the piece’s alignment and consistency with the organization’s mission and principles, which were dismissed by senior leadership.
3/8PAU released the following statement:
“Dinaw Mengestu has not only been an incredible leader through many eras of this organization over the last decade, but, during his seven-month tenure as Board President, he remained deeply attuned to the needs of our members, who have too often borne the brunt of organizational controversy.”

We can see this in the ICE flight data. Domestic “round-up” flights are spiking, and some activist flight watchers report the flights are getting fuller. But deportation and removal flights remain steady. This means the concentration camps are getting packed to the brim. It’s awful to comprehend.

Frankly, this is a five-alarm fire type of bill. This bill will destroy free speech online and surrender our rights to Trump on a silver platter. Reps have left DC for the week, but their offices should be open for another ~20 minutes. Call today if you can and/or first thing Monday morning.
Sounds straightforward enough. Then you remember how people actually talk—online and off. Can teens discuss addiction and recovery? Can a 15-year-old post that she’s worried she has a friend who is drinking too much? Can they seek advice about a parent’s gambling problem, or get help if they or a family member have been scammed? Can they participate in harm-reduction communities or discuss substance abuse treatment? All of these young people would be engaging in lawful speech when discussing topics covered by KOSA’s enumerated harms.

The bill does not directly ban those conversations. But it places platforms under huge pressure to create and enforce moderation policies around broad categories of lawful speech. Faced with legal risk, many services will inevitably choose to remove that speech or restrict those discussions to spaces where they know only adults can participate. We’ve seen this movie before. When legal risk goes up, platforms will take down more speech.

💔 Alice Wong’s last words: “Don’t let the bastards grind you down.” We can never thank Alice enough for fighting all the good fights and especially all the hard fights. We all learned so much from your brilliance, your courage, and your indefatigable leadership. We will never forget you.
This is Alice's friend Sandy Ho, posting. Per Alice's wishes, this message is being shared at the time of her passing.
Hi everyone, it looks like I ran out of time. I have so many dreams that I wanted to fulfill and plans to create new stories for you. There are a few in progress that might come to fruition in a few years if things work out. I did not ever imagine I would live to this age and end up a writer, editor, activist, and more. As a kid riddled with insecurity and internalized ableism, I could not see a path forward. It was thanks to friendships and some great teachers who believed in me that I was able to fight my way out of miserable situations into a place where I finally felt comfortable in my skin.
We need more stories about us and our culture.
You all, we all, deserve the everything and more in such a hostile, ableist environment. Our wisdom is incisive and unflinching. I'm honored to be your ancestor and believe disabled oracles like us will light the way to the future. Don't let the bastards grind you down. I love you all.

Want to pull out this slide: people deserve to know there’s a growing mountain of evidence finding more Covid infections = more likelihood of being left chronically ill. There’s a temptation to think that if you recovered ok last time, then you will next time too, but that’s not what the data say.
Researchers in Spain assessed over 190,000 participants, using data from a public health research network, in a study published in the journal Vaccines. They found that Long COVID prevalence was three to 10 times higher in individuals with three or more reported infections (about 600 people in the dataset) than in those with only one infection.

They also found that the number of thrombotic events, including strokes and pulmonary embolisms, in people under 60 doubled from 2020 to 2024, in both people who were and weren’t vaccinated. The authors concluded that policymakers should prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2 and that healthcare workers should continue wearing protective masks.
