I'll admit that I'm ambivalent about impeaching Trump before Dems definitely have the votes to pull it off. I'd love for a chunk of the next 2 years to be focused on litigating his rampant corruption (and forcing Republicans to repeatedly defend it), but I'm worried about feeding his invincible rep.

The one that’s really annoying me of late is the use of “slop” to describe stuff not made by A.I. It’s frequently directed at low-budget movies which are clearly labors of love. That doesn’t mean they can’t be bad, of course, but I feel like we should restrict “slop” to more cynical desultory stuff.

There are certain fad terms that everyone fastens onto for a bit, thinking they make them sound frightfully arch and incisive, even as the term itself - which may have once been useful - is diluted into nonexistent by over-broad use and repetition. For a while it was “skill issue.”

We're finally starting to catch up on LANTERS, and I've noticed in certain moments they seem to write Hal Jordan as an American Doctor Who, lots of digressive fast-talking while he thinks up a plan. This doesn't seem like Chandler's preferred mode, but he's a pro so he nails it anyway.

I’d always thought PATHS OF GLORY was a courtroom drama but it’s totally not. The one courtroom sequence is an absurd corrupt farce, shamelessly fixed from the outset, Kubrick’s contempt for this fig-leaf-over-savagery constantly apparent.
