DIGGER is certainly something. A movie that seems to be processing itself in real time. Cruise actually letting a director use him for the first time in a while. No running or motorcycling. And because of spoiler requests, it's like Scientology - you have to pay to find out what it's REALLY about.

I was supposed to see The Odyssey today at CityWalk. You'd think people paying a premium to do so wouldn't want to miss a moment, but 20 minutes into the movie, assholes still climbing over us to get to seats, putting flashlights on to check the numbers, kicking our stuff...we left. Be forewarned.

I got screeners for the whole Carrie series, but after the first episode, I decided I didn't need to see any more. The lead actress was good as a homeschooled teen, but they never make Carrie correctly plus-size, and the way Ep 1 ended just felt like lame one-upmanship.

Hers is going to be inspired by '70s glam rock, apparently. Narnia is absolutely based in Christianity, but other mythology too -- Dawn Treader is Lewis' The Odyssey, Silver Chair his Orpheus. Last Battle is absolutely Revelation. Like the best Bible stories, they mostly work as stories.

Tom Cruise legit thinks that it's a good thing, to be proud of, that he bullied his makeup team - who are probably not allowed to say no to him - into working five times as fast to put on his old-man makeup every morning.
